Christmas Trees Sold Here!

Posted by Deena on November 21, 2009

Get Sketchy has a lovely sketch this week that I wanted to try.   The shape of the slope made me think of a mountainside so this is how I interpreted it.

The Christmas trees are already lining the lots, ready to be brought home for Christmas, but outside of the city you can still find places that allow you to cut down your own special tree for the Holidays.  Although we usually just pick ours up from the pépinière (tree nursery), my Sister’s family always cuts down their own, and there is something so special about that I think!

The slope is made by tearing a piece of Basic Grey eskimo kisses paper.  I stamped the tree from Flaky Friends after inking it up with markers on the side of the “mountain” and then added the other panel of BG paper matted with Jillibean Soup kraft paper. The sign is also stamped on the kraft paper.   I love the whimsical feeling of these papers and thought to add to it by stringing two stars on a length of hemp twine.  I pierced holes through the paper and looped the twine through, tying it inside behind the button.   I’ve also added some “snow’ falling in the sky, by dotting Tombo Aqua liquid glue and sprinkling flower soft like white fluff on top.  I let it dry for a few minutes, then pat it down and shake off the excess to use at another time.

  • Stamps: Cornish Heritage Farms vintage signage, SU! Flaky Friends
  • Paper: Basic Grey eskimo kisses, Jillibean Soup Kraft, SU! white
  • Ink: Memento rich Cocoa
  • Accessories: Memento Markers, star charms (dollar store), button, snow soft (dollar store), hemp twine,

Happy tree hunting!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!
