A Spring Promise

Hello! Wow, April 1st already! Any April Fool’s Day pranks going on? Des is the KING of pranks on April Fools Day! He never fails to fool someone BIG TIME! Usually big elaborate pranks that get people really riled up too! He’s good though, he always seems to know when to reveal the joke, before it gets TOO far! He only ever pranks co-workers, and every year they swear they will get him back, but so far it has not happened. He’s hard to prank! This year, he is not at work and I am a little nervous! I will have to be on the alert all day! Last year I got the boys to prank him, and we actually got him good. It was just a little child’s prank, but it was funny! I had them stuff the toes of his shoes hard with newspaper. So, when he was trying to put them on to go to work in the morning he kept slamming his foot in and his shoes wouldn’t fit! He’s half …

A case of time well spent

Phew! I’ve had a busy weekend. How about you? On Saturday I went downtown to meet up with someone I had only ever chatted with online through private messages on SCS. We met at Chapters so we could browse the card making mags of course, and have coffee. I was excited to meet her face to face, and even a bit nervous. I mean, really, I’ve never met someone online before. I didn’t even know what she looked like because she doesn’t have a picture up on SCS. She had seen a pic of me, but still didn’t recognize me! She had told me she would be wearing an aqua blue coat. I was looking around and only saw someone that I suspected might be her ( because she was looking around too), but she wasn’t wearing a blue coat. When I approached her, and she realized who I was she said, “You didn’t have blond in your hair in the picture! And, I know, I’m not wearing my blue coat! ” It was kind …

Beautiful Blooms Bloom with Abandon!

Hello! Have any of you seen the movie Across the Universe? It took me pleasantly by surprise the other night. I watched it with a friend and we weren’t to sure what to expect from it. We knew it was a Beatles based musical young love story, but beyond that, we had no idea what we were in for. It turned out that the male lead (Jim Sturgess) has a voice that blends Paul McCartney and John Lennon into a dreamy double whammy, and he has a charm to match! The story is a simple tale of young love, but told in a way that captured and held my interest and even tweaked some sweet memories of my own. If you are a Beatles fan, the music is a blast from the past, sung by the actors themselves. They’re good! Really! It is slightly 60’s trippy by times, but the movie overall was really sweet and unexpected. It may even leave you feeling like LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED! So, if love is all ya …

Smile

Hi! The limited supply challenge yesterday on SCS dared us to use our unloved bought and forgot embellishments! Well I’ve had these boring beige round letter buttons for at least a year and never used them. So today was the day! I KNEW I’d need them someday! LOL I absolutely love this sentiment created by Lesley Langdon for Cornish Heritage Farms. It was included in the Stamp of the Month for March, which I finally received today! I used it here as it was fitting with the floral theme . It was stamped direct to paper in Almost Artichoke Ink. I punched the blooms with a floral punch and paper pierced the stems from a template I made freehand. Thanks for stopping by! Hope you enjoy it! Deena

You’re Fabulous! It’s Stamp & Play Thursday!

Hello! Today’s Ways to Use it challenge on SCS encouraged everyone to JUST SPRAY IT! Well I did just that! I used bleach in a spray bottle to get a mottled, tie dye look for my background paper. Easy, fun effect! Just be careful that you wear old clothes in case some spray ends up on you! I used the paper for the main bg, as well as the panels. The flowers are spritzed with Tattered Angels glimmer mist, which adds a nice sparkle IRL. I also added Heidi Swapp crystals for some bling and to draw your eye to this small focal image. I didn’t use a larger image and left some white negative space so the bleach effect could remain a focus of the card as well. Hope you like it! Any questions? Ask away! Colour it pretty, simply!

Hi! Do you have some stamps that you are intimidated by? Are they laying in a drawer unused? Scared away by the seemingly enormous amount of colouring?? Then this is the post for you!! Have a look at these, and then I’ll explain. I wanted to show you how you can take an image that you may normally take lots of time to watercolour or colour with inks/reinkers and brushes, and add colour to it more simply. The card at the top started out with a piece of white card stock. Once I had decided on my colour scheme, I took a couple of complementary chalk colours and using a cotton ball, pounced, smeared and smudged randomly on the paper with a light touch. Here, I’ve used a soft teal and a sunny soft yellow. If you want a darker background just think about where you will be stamping your image and leave this area with just the soft colour and simply add more in a random pattern around this area. You will then take …

Babies and Astronauts!

Hello all! I’m back from a quick overnight trip to Ottawa. We went to visit my new baby great-niece (yikes, that kinda made me feel old, writing that!) She is adorable! Why is it that we always forget how SMALL newborns are? Of course, my boys were bigger when they were born, bigger than she is now at 4 weeks! My niece is doing well, after a very long 30 hrs. of labour! Mine were long too. That’s the other thing about visiting new babies, I always remember my own pain! Everyone told me that I would forget about all that when the baby was born…yada yada ya! No way. I remember every sordid detail! lol We also took the boys to the Science and technology museum and spent alot of time looking at the space exhibits. Everything in that museum is hands on, lots of buttons to push and things to manipulate. Lots of fun. My youngest boy just loves anything to do with outer space, stars, planets, and astronauts.   We took a flight …
