Whales and other things

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a very wonderful Easter day! My kids had a great time egg hunting this morning…too cute. I think they missed a few, so they’ll be finding them through the week! It was a pretty relaxed day , as I did not have any family visiting (for a change). Most of our family is out of town, all at least a couple of hours away, and some as many as 12 hrs, and usually when we get together, I am hostess! I have had family (in-laws) stay for weeks at a time! Soooo, it is actually kind of a nice change when we do not have to go anywhere or have anyone here.

I have two cards to share with you tonight.

These were made for the limited supply challenge on SCS. I LOVED this challenge! Not only did it require us to make something with limited supplies and any tools, which I think is great, but in this case, make two different cards using the same stamp set, colour scheme and papers!

I used Pun Fun from Stampin’ Up and had a blast!
For the first card, I cut out my own full size whale to look similar to the stamped one in the dark blue card stock, and added the googly eyes. The *waves* under the little whale is a stamp from Brocade Basics, heat embossed with clear ep. I also heat embossed the little whale and cut him out to make him look like he is swimming next to Mommy Whale. The sentiment is attached with ribbon to look like the spray from the blow hole.

The second card is cuttlebugged with the d’vine swirls folder. The whale is stamped, clear embossed and cut out. I used Crystal Effects for drops of water under the sentiment. The wave panel under the ribbon is done using a corner rounder.

You should really try this challenge too!

For anyone who may want the template for the whale shaped card, just use a standard size folded card base and trace around the enlarged pattern, directly on it. Then cut it out. Here’s the template at 35% of the original size.

Have a great Easter long Weekend!
