Friendship Blooms

Goodmorning! I’m moving at the speed of a sloth this morning. School is out due to more snow. Yes More!! It did rain yesterday though, so a very little bit of it did melt. (SIGH) Anyway, school being out means my oldest is home, and wanting to play video games, while my 3 year old wants to play matchbox cars with me, because his brother won’t play with him. So, that’s what I’ve been doing. That’s o.k, though, I will have some time to stamp this afternoon! Last night, I made this card using the sketch challenge from Splitcoast. I love this sketch. It is very versatile and you can use up some of those scraps that keep multiplying! I have a drawer full of scraps that I keep going into to use, and yet it is always overflowing. I just can’t bring myself to throw any of it in the recycle box either, because I just KNOW I will need that scrap for something soon! You know what I mean? Don’t forget to check …

A Few of My Favourite Things…

Hello everyone! Happy ST. Patrick’s Day! It was a beautiful, mild day and there was a promise of spring in the air! Yes! That fresh sweet season is my favourite! Summer is a close second. Anyone else around here just waiting to inhale that first real scent of earthy freshness?? (Sigh) It may be a while yet, because around here there is still 10 foot high mounds of snow on everyone’s front lawns! I want to say THANKS! to all of you who have visited, and commented here at my very new blog. It is a very unusual experience for me and sometimes, as I’m writing away, and Pink Floyd is playing in my mind, I’m thinking …”Helloooo? Is there ANY body OUT there?” So again, Thanks to all who are out ‘THERE’, I appreciate your comments! It is very encouraging!  Without you I’d look kind of silly talking to myself! heehee I have added a new feature to my new blog! At the top of the screen under my blog name you will find …

Easter Basket Envy! A Tutorial…!

Easy Easter Envelope “Thou shalt not covet..” your neighbor’s Easter basket?? O.K. I’m not actually talking about that kind of envy…but rather an ‘envy’ lope! Because this little basket is made from an ordinary, everyday envelope! Since Easter is next weekend, I thought some of you might appreciate a quick gift for the kids or even a co-worker! Some of you pros out there could probably whip this one up on your break in the supply room! lol SCS had a recent challenge to make these fun envelope bags. I wanted to make another so I photographed the steps to share with you. MY FIRST mini tutorial! Woohoo! I hope you like it! Click to Enlarge Supplies Envelope (white, cream, coloured) Large tag punch (optional) Stamps of your choice printed paper Embellishments of your choice Seal the envelope. If you have a tag punch align the punch just at the outer edge of the top of the envelope and punch. Do this on the other side as well, to form a handle. If your handle …

Chocolate Egg

Hello! Today I made a card that combined two challenges, using the Inspiration Challenge from SCS, and Sharon’s blog (No Time to Stamp) challenge asking us to pierce your paper!.Chocolate Egg  I do not have an oval shape cutter, so I freehanded the egg shaped card. I used glitter gel writers to colour in some of the dots on the dp, then I added SU dazzling diamonds on top of these. The mini egg is stamped with a chocolate chip bunny and colored with metallic pencil and glitter pens. The edge around the egg is outlined in pink glitter and blue dots. The whole egg is dipped in Stampin’ Up dazzling diamond glitter. The Blue strip is pierced free hand for more eggcellent decoration! TIP of the day: Paper Piercing You do not need fancy templates to paper pierce. If you are good at doodling, draw a light pencil marked doodle where you want the piercing, then pierce holes appr. 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch apart following the marking. Erase the marking and you’re done. …

No tools Needed Card!

Hello all! Hip-hippo-ray! Yesterday’s SCS limited supply challenge was simple: No tools! So I had to put away my cuttlebug, crop a dile, paper piercer, and punches and come up with a card! I needed yet another baby card…not for someone I know personally this time, just to fill an order. I received a great big Stampin’ Up order yesterday, with this cute set called Pun Fun in it. So I had to use it of course! It is a wonderful set for quick cards and has so many versatile images, especially if you mount the sentiments separately, which I did. I mounted the sentiment portion of the stamp on the side of the same wood block. This way you can choose to use it or not, it won’t be attached to the image. The hippo is stamped dtp (direct to decorative paper) and outlined in blue with a gel writer pen. The balloon and the ribbon are coloured in with glitter gel writers. I added dots around the mat layer. The base Very Vanilla …

Stamp & Play Thursday!

Wedding Bells Hello! Smile…the weekend is just around the corner! The time of year for weddings is also just around the corner too, and with that in mind I’ve made this card. I hope you’ll try it too! Here is a quick, simple but elegant, wedding card you can make in under half an hour! Hope you like it! Here’s the recipe: You will need your cuttlebug (Provo Craft)for the embossed layer. If you don’t have one yet, I highly recommend buying one! It is so much fun to use and easy easy easy! One sheet Basic Grey card stock 81 /2 X 51/2inch for your base card. One 5 1/4 X 4 inch piece white cs for embossing. If you have the cuttlebug, emboss this piece with your chosen embossing folder. I’ve used Stylized Flowers. One piece of gorgeous ribbon. I’ve used Stampin’ Up Purely Pomegranate Satin ribbon. Scallop punch a circle in the same Basic Grey cs. Use a small image (the bells) that will fit inside your circle punch (1 3/8in) A …

A crazy Canadian winter!

I thought I’d share a few pictures of the crazy amount of snow we’ve had around here. And there’s some pretty cute pics of my kids too! The second one is a picture of the snowbank piled this high along the entire length of our street just from plowing the street! Yikes! We have not had this much snow since 1972!! Montreal is on the verge of breaking the record!

Blackbird

The colour challenge today at SCS is an elegant combo of Purely pomegranate, Basic Grey and Basic Black. This is what I put together. A mix of black and grey dp, layered with Purely Pomegranate textured card stock from Stampin’ Up. The card itself is a folded standard size 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 Basic Grey card stock. I loved putting this together, although it is not my usual style…it’s a bit more ornate than I would normally be comfortable with. I did not use a sentiment on this one, as I felt it just didn’t need one. Speaking of sentiments, I rarely use them on my cards. I started making cards years ago because I would stand in a card store looking for an appropriate card to express what I needed to, and I would always walk out empty handed. I would love some of the images, but would put them back because of the words! I just could not bring myself to buy what I thought were overstated, gushy, cliche’ driven sentiments. It …
