I’m Happy to be Home!

Hello! I’m home from our holiday in British Columbia. Ten days went by so quickly, as it always seems to when you’re on vacation right? We had planned this trip for my nephew’s wedding which was on Saturday. It was the hottest day of the week; a melting 36 degrees celcius. My boys were in tuxedos for several hours at this outdoor event! My littlest pretty near got heat stroke and I had to go get him from the bridal party in the middle of the ceremony! It was not too formal an affair thank goodness! There was no doubt that I had to go up there and even the Mother of the Bride encouraged me to go get him. We all thought he was going to fall backwards into the pond! Yikes! I’m actually surprised that no one did! He was fine after I brought him out of the blazing sun, got him to drink a tall glass of cool water and used an ice cube at the base of his neck to cool …

My first ATC!

That’s right! My first! I made thisย  a couple of weeks ago for my SBS18 sister for our monthly swap. I don’t know why I haven’t made ATC’s before, they are fun to make! I have to thank Diane, A.K.A miss apple on splitcoast for showing me this background technique! She came over to stamp with me a month ago and showed me her ‘colorwash’ technique. She uses glimmer sprays and mixed ink sprays to spritz watercolor paper. The leaf design is made by laying down a mask ( in this case a plastic leaf) and spritzing over it, then removing it. The other mask is some grid tape! So fun to do! I love how this turned out! Stamps: Boho Bliss MFT Accessories: glimmer mists, dragonfly punch, plastic leaf, mesh tape Paper: Watercolor Paper Fabriano? Ink: Taken with Teal

Inspired

Hello! Today I have a double challenge card to share with you. My inspiration for this card came from Beate’s Be Inspired piece from last Tuesday, and I used her weekend sketch # 52. When I saw the inspiration (a beautiful 3 tier Martha Stewart cake) I thought that the layered sketch would work really well with it. I cuttled the middle panel using the Stylized Flowers folder. The papers are from Basic Grey’s Infuse collection. What I pulled from the inspiration piece were the rose red colored flowers and the stripes of rose red icing that looked like rickrac ribbon to me. I attached the Merci tag with a mini red brad. The layered flower in the top corner is pieced from Basic Grey die cuts. Hope to meet with you here again soon! Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Gift Card Holders

Hi everyone! I almost forgot to show you these! I made them for the teachers at my Son’s school for the gift cards we gave them. I needed 4. Hey, can you guess how many of the teachers are male? ๐Ÿ™‚ These are very quick and easy. Here’s what I used. 1 sheet 5″ x 4″ dp scored at 7/8″ and 3 1/4″ on the 5″ length. 1 strip 1″x 5 1/4″ coordinating dp Circle punch, scallop punch, brads I folded up the 7/8″ end and adhered the two outer edges with red line adhesive. The gift card should sit in this flap. I then fold down the top flap and it comes just over the bottom flap. I rounded the corners of the top flap. Next, I made the band to hold it closed. I just folded it around the holder and adhered the edges near the middle. .It slides on and off easily. Then I added the stamped circle and scallop and the brad to finish it! Father’s Day, A lazy hazy Day of Summer!

Goodmorning! How was everyone’s weekend? We had such a fun Father’s day! We weren’t at the beach, but we were playing in water with the kids in our own backyard! Think baby pools and sprinklers and you’ll get the idea! I made this at the end of our day and left it on my husband’s pillow for him to find. I just thought the image captured a bit of the lazy summer day that we all enjoyed! I did find the coloring of this image a bit tricky, but I’m pleased with the end result. I used my Letraset aqua markers and aqua brush pen to paint it. I cut it out for a dimensional effect, but kept the card simple, because the image is enough to stand on it’s own I think. Aren’t these turtles by Cornish Heritage Farms cute? Tom Allen has designed a whole line of Friendly Kritters! They’re all adorable! click for larger image Stamps: Cornish Heritage Farms Beach Turtles , Verve Visual Happy Thoughts Paper: Basic Grey Two Scoops, Bashful …

Wedding Blues

My nephew is getting married in less than 2 weeks in B.C, so I needed another wedding card.ย  I think blue isย  lovely on a wedding card, don’t you? I love the look of this Featured Stamper’s card.ย  If you haven’t played along in a Featured Stamper challenge on SCS, you really should give it a try! It is a wonderful way to explore new styles and you have free license to CASE a card you like! Giving credit where credit is due of course! ๐Ÿ™‚ This week’s stamper gallery is denidill; another wonderful gallery that I was happy to be introduced to! It’s amazing how big SCS really is, and I only realize it when I find a new gallery that I had no clue existed and feel that I should have, considering how great it is! I love how this sketch uses two different cuttlebug folders to emboss the top and bottom! The Floral Fantasy folder has hearts in it, can you see them? So I thought it would be perfect for the …

Clip Art coupled with DIY DP!

The SBS18 theme for this week’s challenge is COUPLES. Here’s what I came up with. I quickly realized that I do not have any couples stamps! How sad is that?? The closest thing I could find in my stamp stash is the All in the family set. But stick people romance was not what I was looking for! So, I decided to try the ever growing in popularity…clip art for my main image. This is a first for me. Because I did not stamp the main image i felt compelled to create my own background paper, so that I did stamp something! I was inspired by Cosmo Cricket’s Fleuriste paper and used Rose Red to to stamp the weave background on cream cs, then sponged it with Elegant Eggplant and Ruby Red. I then stamped the flourishes and the sentiment in Elegant Eggplant. I think Romeo and Juliet were the first couple to ever capture my romantic imagination, so I thought they were perfect for a couples theme. I also used monochromatic tones for this, …
