A Vignette

This is a card my sweet Grandmother asked me to make her, a while ago ,(I’m ashamed it has taken me so long to make this) Sorry Grandma!   I made a card very similar to this one for an inspiration challenge back in January.  I have a hard time repeating my work… does anyone else have that problem?  Unless I’m in full mass production mode, for a specific purpose, I really don’t like to make the same thing twice!  So, naturally, I had to challenge myself to take it a step further and make this one extra special for my Grandmother.

I decided to use Basic Grey paper for the “wallpaper”.  I love this pattern, and the challenge on the BasicGrey blog this week was to use one of three color combos.  I chose the green & red (maroon) combo.  The vase is stamped on red Basic Grey paper from Sugared.  The “wallpaper” background is from the Sugared 6×6 pad as well.

I have always loved miniature art, miniature dollhouses, furnishings and well anything mini!  So, when I had the opportunity to bring two passions together, I did.  I was inspired by a life size side table in an inspiration piece from this Pottery Barn photo.

When I first saw the picture I was reminded of how much I enjoyed creating miniature vignettes (3D) in the past, and I thought I would try to do something similar on a card.  I have to say, I’m quite happy with how it turned out!  You can see the original card I made HERE.

Did you notice the mini card on the table?  🙂

I used one of my own cards, cropped the image some more, and then resized it to get it 5/8th of an inch by 1/2 of an inch.  Here’s a close up, sorry, it is a bit fuzzy.  Have a look at the vase too, it has dragonflies on it! I love this little stamped vase from Rubber Stamp Tapestry! I stamped it, cut it out, then glazed it with Crystal Effects.

I also added a little more detail to the “painting” than with the first one I made.  When working with something this scale though, I want to keep the design clean and simple, but interesting enough to  look like something I might frame in my home. Too much detail is lost in translation when scaling down.  😉   This framed painting is 2″ x 1.25″.   I used Rubber Stamp Tapestry stamps to create the nature scene.  They are the smallest stamps I have found, and of course had to have!

Stamps: Rubber Stamp Tapestry, (Stampin’ Up Stem Silhouettes (mini card) )

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Always Artichoke, Basic Black, Ranger Distress Walnut Stain, Versa Color ash rose, Indigo, Bark

Paper: Basic Grey Sugared, Stampin’ Up Very Vanilla, whisper white

Accessories: “mirror” silver disc, crystal effects Stampin’ Up!, brass eyelets, crop a dile, thin cardboard, maroon fabric, circle punch

I hope you’ve enjoyed my mini vignette! I had fun making it and I think my Grandma will love it too! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by today,  you know I love your company!! 😉   Any questions?  Ask away!

Have a great stamping day!
