Ring in 2010 with Glitter and Bling!

I am sooooo excited!!  I got a CRICUT EXPRESSION for Christmas from my fabulous husband!!  Does he realize what this means???   As if I didn’t spend enough time in my craft room as it is!!  Maybe he thought that with this machine I would get my projects done faster and so give me more time with him and the boys…but who’s kidding who?  Now I just have that many MORE PROJECTS that I will want to make!!  heehee This New Year mobile is the first thing I’ve made using the Cricut.  I have to say the possibilities are endless with this machine and I was a bit overwhelmed when I thought about it!!  I don’t think I would ever have bought this for myself .  I really wasn’t sure I wanted to open that can of worms so to speak…but now that I have it in my crafty anxious hands, I will NOT LET GO!!  Nope, it’s mine and it’s here to stay!   It is easy to use and I love it!!! It took only …

Silver Embossed Tags/Tree Ornaments

I made these silver embossed tags tonight and I was originally thinking they would be pretty paper ornaments, but then realized they would be great as tags too.  So maybe I will use them for both. I embossed the Unity bird, and Flourishes sentiment stamp in silver embossing powder.  I also added a little dazzling diamond glitter to the bird for some extra sparkle, tied a sheer purple ribbon and silver cord to the top with an eyelet setting.  The die cut shape is Nestabilities Labels Four. I’ve entered this in the Simon Says “Merry Christmas” challenge where all they wanted us to do was say “Merry Christmas” in some way. 🙂 My friend Rosana whom I’ve met blogging, has asked if I could share some info with you all. This is an appeal to all CAT LOVERS! http://adoteumgatinho.uol.com.br/ Adote um Gatinho (meaning Adopt a Kitten) is a foundation that rescues cats and prepare them for adoption. They have been nominated for a prize and if they receive enough votes by December 28th they will …

Cuttlebug Christmas Tags and Tin

Hello!!  Wow, only 10 days to go ’till Christmas! The Christmas preparations are well under way, most of my cards have been sent out (although I do have a few more to make and send), and I have yet to start my baking!  I am getting into the spirit of the Holidays now, waiting for family to arrive and looking forward to some special time with them. It will be an emotional Christmas for our family this year.  We found out two months ago that my MIL has terminal cancer.  It did come as a complete shock to us all, as nothing was found until she was at stage 4  and nothing can be done medically.  She is 78 years old and has always been a very strong woman both physically and spiritually.  She is a real go getter with more energy than I have by times!!   We had the very difficult task of telling our two boys last night about their Nanny.  Children do surprise us at how they take things.  I find with …

Wintry White Holiday

This is a card I made casing Pam124, the Featured Stamper today on SCS. I kept the same basic layout and used the same stamp set, but changed the sentiment, the colors and added snow by embossing in three different ways (Thanks Mel!! ) You can see Pam’s card HERE. Please see Mel’s fabulous post on how to create snow by embossing three different ways HERE.  How fun! And much easier than I thought it might be. I used River Rock card stock and stamped my image in Memento rich cocoa.  I used a white pencil crayon to add in some snowy highlights on the branches and trunk.  Then, I added more white around the base of the tree before stamping the Cornish Heritage Farms backgrounder stamp (Twinkle Twinkle) in white pigment ink and embossing in white embossing powder.   As in MEL’s tutorial, I used a souffle pen to add more “snow” around the trunk and across the top of the landscape, sprinkling on ep and heat embossing.   The final step was to sprinkle embossing …

An Unconventional Christmas

I’ve made a gatefold card for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge and combined it with the Twisted Sisters challenge on SCS to use unconventional colors for a Christmas card.   Well these colors are definitely not my usual choice for Christmas cards… I stamped the Flourishes wreath in rich cocoa and colored in the berries with Memento potter’s clay marker and copics YG95.  I also added a little shimmer with my Sakura gel pen. The dp is from Crate paper. The card stock is groovy guava and soft sky, and the ribbon is American Crafts. Thanks for stopping by!

Puppy Love Christmas

Teri, crafty creator of Delicious Doodles is our new sponsor for this week’s Crafty Creations challenge.  The challenge this week is to make a  CHRISTMAS FOR MY PET creation.  Teri gave us some adorable digi images to use for our DT creations and the team was inspired! Go have a peek at what the other girls did with these images over on CRAFTY CREATIONS and join in the challenge too! I added spots to this little pup image and paper pieced the stocking.  I gave him  some fur too by using white flower soft like product (dollar store).  He’s all fuzzy and warm looking now! The papers are Daisy d’s (discontinued Christmas paper).  I printed the image onto white card stock and then on another piece of regular copy paper, I used repositionable glue (Zig 2 Way) on the piece of dp to attach it, and ran it through the printer.  The dp was not a standard size to put through the printer alone.  This worked perfectly, and then I was able to cut out …

White Winter Magic

The limited supplies challenge on SCS on Friday was to make an all white Christmas card,  with only white embellishments, and no patterned paper.  It got me thinking about how much I enjoy a white Christmas. There is something magical about a white christmas.  I am not a fan of winter or cold weather, but I do love a pretty snowfall.  It is so wonderful to see that first sprinkling of white like a dusting of icing sugar over everything.   After a fresh snowfall,  the world sparkles and the landscape is covered in a beautiful white blanket.  Ahh, if only it could stay that way.   There have been very few Christmases that I have not seen that white landscape, but so far this year we have not had any snow stay on the ground, just a few flutterings that have melted away…but I’m pretty sure that will change soon!  In the meantime, I’ve made an all white Christmas card to help put me in that white Christmas spirit! I added a lot of texture to …

Big Bow Tags

Hello!  If you are like me and about a zillion other crafters, I’ll bet if you look around your craft area right now, you will find lots of  Holiday paper scraps everywhere!  If you are super organized and have already thrown them in the recycle bin, shame on you! *wink*  Get them out!  Making Holiday TAGS is a wonderful way to use up those scraps and clean up your desk at the same time. The tags above were made with scraps I had leftover on my desk, even the decorative edge. I just had to cut the strip in half to fit it.  The great thing is that tags can be any shape or size, so using scraps just makes sense. Work with what you have! I did bring out the striped Stampin’ Up!  ribbon to make these big bows; I certainly would never call that much ribbon “scraps”!  But aside from the ribbon you can see how quickly tags like this can come together just using your scraps. The mini tags are punched from …
