Crafty Creations Challenge #10

It’s time for another Crafty Creations Challenge!  This week’s theme is recycling, keeping in mind that Earth day is April 22nd!   My DT piece for this week  is a combined challenge effort.  I used my favorite stamp set from Flourishes for their Timeless Tuesday Challenge,  I used the colors from this week’s colour challenge on SCS and I followed Friday Sketcher’s layout #46! For the RECYCLING challenge I decided to use a coke can.  I washed it out well, and let it dry. Then I used my can opener to remove the top, cut down the side, and around the bottom to remove it.  I was left with approximately 4″x8″ of soft tin. I punched out  two sizes of flowers, pierced the centers and adde brads.  I was surprised at how this turned out!   I had never tried this before because the edges of those flowers look sharp, and I didn’t want anyone bleeding all over my card! lol. BUT surprisingly, the metal is so flimsy that the edges are not very sharp at …

Live Like You Mean It!

A great sentiment isn’t it?   This set is from Stampin’ Up! and I really love it for making simple backgrounds and fun designs. I just stamped the main flower three times, once in Summer Sun and Wild Wasabi for the focal point, and added some of the line art flowers around the edges .  I colored them in with Rose red, (which I like as a bold pink ).  The panel is layered on Whisper White and Basic Black. Hope it makes you feel like Spring is here! I certainly am having a hard time believing it, as it has been dreary and raining and cold the last few days! We even had a bit of snow mixed with the rain at one point, YUCK!  O.k, I am sure it will start getting warmer soon!! Have a great day everyone!!

DIY Paper Little Yellow Birds

Happy Saturday!! I made this clean and simple card the other day while stamping with my friend Peggy.  She had the idea that we should stamp our own paper and I love doing that.  So this is what resulted.  I kept the card very simple because I really love how the paper turned out, with those cute little birds!  What do think?  Does it need more embellishing or layers?  I sometimes think I keep my cards too simple. Paper: DIY stamped on whisper white, kraft Stampin’ Up! Ink: Tim Holtz broken china, SU! summer sun, basic black Stamps: Bird on a branch, Spring Solitude, Fresh Cuts (sentiment) all Stampin’ Up! Accessories: So Saffron Ribbon, mini brads, prismacolor pencils I kept forgetting to tell you all how much fun I had for my belated birthday celebration last Saturday!!  My best friend took me out for the day, we went strolling and shopping in a quaint village along the Lakeshore, which included a visit to a great scrapbook shop, after having a lovely brunch.  Then out for …
