Clearly A Birthday Card

I love the limited supply challenge!   Maybe it’s because I like to keep things simple.  I have probably said this before, but I’m saying it again. Simplicity is beautiful to me.  I strive for it.  I am a perfectionist at heart, (I see it as a downfall) and I am a conflicted, complicated person too, just ask my husband! 🙂  A huge part of why I love him so is because he helps simplify my life.  He calms me.  No mind games, no complex ideas of rearranging the world,  just keeping it real.  Simplicity is so important to me.  Life is complicated enough without making it more so, don’t you think?   But before I end up  talking philosophy, I better get to my card!   The limited supplies list was one base of cardstock and no other card stock.  Some decorative papers, and limited embellishments.  Simple, but with impact nevertheless.  At least I think so.   Hopefully you agree!   Have a look… I was inspired by the Flourishes Focus today.  Laura was talking about Crystal Clear …

A Sunny Day

This week’s Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge (FTTC17) was set by guest challenge host Connie, and she is challenging us to use sponging on our cards.   I was up for that challenge!   I also used the colors from this week’s color challenge on SCS. I decided to make my background using emboss resist,  by stamping Fifth Avenue florals in versamark on whisper white paper, and embossing with clear embossing powder.  I then lightly sponged on bashful blue ink on the flowers and pumpkin pie ink around the flowers. Then I wiped off the embossed flowers for the finish.   The focal image is stamped in bashful blue,  and the pitcher is sponged in bashful blue too.  I lightly sponged the base area around the pitcher in pumpkin pie.   The embellishment is a button I covered with dp and clear crystal effects, and  the ribbon is So saffron ribbon from Stampin’ Up.  This card makes me think of the warm sunshine filled days of summer!  I can’t wait for those!! I think I’ll be sending this out …

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a creative day!! Any questions, or comments are always welcome!

You’re a Hoot!

Hi everyone!!  I hope all my U.S  friends had a good long weekend!! Todays technique lovers challenge on SCS was to make a hinged card, so I thought I’d give it a try as I have seen these around, but had never given it a try!  I finally jumped on  the OWL TREND  bandwagon and bought a cute set from Hampton Art last week.  I know…I’m weak!!!  But aren’t they cute???  I also made a stationery set of note cards for everyday use with the other owl in the set, that I will show you all tomorrow.   Let me know what you think. I used Urban Oasis dp from Stampin’ Up! , Kraft, and whisper white.  I embossed the kraft paper using Forest Branches folder in my cuttlebug.  The owl is cut out and popped up on foam adhesive.   If you want a good tutorial on how to make a hinged card like this, go HERE.   It’s easy!! Have a creative day all!!

Friendship Tag Album

I thought I’d show you another little tag album I made.  I am really having fun making these! I’ve used jenni bowlin 4″ x 4″ papers from Flourishes to decorate each tag.   The final size is about 3.5″ by 2.25″ .  The tags are cut from recycled card board using Nestabilities Labels Four, and  are held together with a brass binding ring.   I’ve stamped  Flourishes Timeless Quotes and Stampin’ Up pocket silhouettes on them and left some space for small photos or personal embellishments to be added. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

A Metal Challenge

Hi my friends! It’s time for another Crafty Creations Challenge!   The theme is METAL.  I know…sounds tough, but maybe you haven’t yet thought about  metal brads, or eyelets, or charms, or maybe you have a tin that you’ve been waiting to decorate!!  Any crafty creation is  welcome! How about jewelry, or key chains? I know you can come up with your own unique twist on this challenge, so go ahead and have fun with it!  There is a fabulous prize again this week.  Have a peek at the BEAUTIFUL earrings that The Earring Boutique makes, and play in the challenge for your chance to win a pair! Here’s the tag album I made with a METAL book ring to bind it and some added charms too. This tag album was so fun to make! I used my nestabilities Labels Four to cut out the papers and thin card board for the tags, then embellished with stamps, charms and punched papers for a collage effect.   All that’s left to do is add some small photographs from …

Here Comes Baby

I had a another baby card to make,  this time for a baby boy.   I was asked to make a large format so there would be enough room for everyone to sign  (it was being  passed around the office for a co-worker), so this is  5″ x 7″. I used my scalloped rectangle Nestabilities to cut and emboss the center panels. The dp and the stamp are from Stampin’ Up! I added two little blue button brads for the wheels of the buggy, and the ribbon on the buggy panel is just passed through punched holes on either side and adhered to the back of the panel. The long ribbon is a separate piece atached to the base panel. Today we’re getting all our yard work done, since it’s the first nice day we’ve had since Friday.  Des is putting out our deck furniture now too, although it is still too cold to sit outside for very long.  At least it is sunny, and we will get to bbq our steaks tonight! Thanks for stopping …

His And Hers

Hello there!  I am so excited to show you these cards  that I made last week for the Flourishes HIS and HERs challenge!  I just found out late last night, that I won!!  I am thrilled of course, because the NEW RELEASE SETS are fabulous and I will be receiving  all three!!!  Yippeeeee!! For HIS, I made it a Father’s Day card using the cup from Flourishes Coffee with Friends set and the sentiment from Stampin’ Up!’s All Holidays.   The papers are Jenny bowlin 4″ x 4″ purchased from Flourishes too. HER card is made with the same layout, same Jenni Bowlin paper pack, with pearls from Kaisercraft instead of eyelets and a green background instead of the brown.    The stamp is from the Flourishes Stamp Simply Thank You set. How was your day?  It has just been pouring here, so not a very nice start to our long weekend!  But I’m hoping tomorrow is a little nicer because we’d love to get outside and bbq on our new gas grill!  Mmmm, steaks on the …

It’s All About Chocolate!

CHOCOLATE, decadant, yummmmy chocolate.  That is our craft theme for this week’s CRAFTY CREATIONS CHALLENGE!   Any creation, any craft, just make it about chocolate, it could be something that holds chocolate, wraps chocolate, looks like chocolate or  simply has chocolate as its main colors! I happen to love chocolate in its many forms, and in crafting it is on my top ten favorite colors list!   So of course I had to pull out my Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Up paper and my Chocolate Chip designer paper to make my dt sample.    I needed a birthday card for my brother whose birthday is in two days and he loves chocolate too! I used Flourishes Birthday Celebrations set stamped in Chocolate Chip ink, and colored it in with a blender pen.  If you look closely, I’ve added a few chocolate chips too!   I love my new deckled rectangle Nestabilities , it’s the first time I’ve used them, but I’m sure you’ll be seeing them more often.    Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge this week is to make a BIRTHDAY …

Memories

Happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderful Mothers out there!  I hope you have a special day. I will be spending mine with my Husband and two adorable boys.  My sons are asleep together tonight, because lately my youngest son begs us to let him sleep with his “big” brother.  So, on the weekends, when we know it won’t really matter if they stay up waaay past bedtime, we let them.  Sometimes we actually have to send our little guy back to his own room though, because his brother WANTS to go to sleep, but his little brother just won’t stay quiet enough for that to happen…which turns into a fight….and then some shouting… and eventually some crying. However, tonight was all good.   And they are soooo adorable when they are sleeping! Really, there is nothing sweeter than a child’s innocent face when they are asleep! I actually get a lump in my throat when I look at them, and have to resist the urge to climb into the bed and curl up next to …
