Stars and Stripes

We had a lovely day yesterday, as it was a Quebec holiday (Saint Jean Baptiste day), Des was off and we had friends over for a bbq.  It was a beautiful hot day!! Loved it!!!  The kids played, while we lounged around the deck sipping margaritas and daquiris. We coooked up the steaks and grilled garlic potatoes,  and our friends brought a spinach, apple and roasted pecan salad, and a yummy peach crisp!!   Mmmm, we had a wonderful day and after the kids were in bed we had a good game of Settlers of Catan.   It was a real summer fun kind of day!  I’m already looking forward to the next time!!

Stars and stripes is the theme of our Crafty Creations Challenge this week!  Ali set the challenge and has said that it can be stars or stripes, and it need not necessarily be patriotic.  Now, I’m sure we will see lots of patriotic cards and creations this week, since July 4th is so near and in my case July 1st for Canada day… But I decided to go with, yes…another birthday card!  Heehee. Well, I do have to get these done after all!  This is number 9, 6 more to go!

This has a masculine feel to it I think…simple but elegant too…the stamp is a Hero Arts happy birthday collage block I stamped in Choc. chip on Very Vanilla.   The striped paper is from K& Company, Classic K Margo collection.   I added the scallop strip down the side in kraft cs and adhered green rhinestones halfway down, then I finished it off with a knotted choc. chip ribbon.
