Cuttlebug Fabric Flower Tutorial

I made a sympathy card for a friend whose father passed away this week, and took inspiration from a few challenges.  One was the black magic technique on SCS,  and another was the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge to make our own flowers. I am not one to use flowers on my cards very often.  The reason for this is that I don’t like a lot of bulk on my cards, and I always find flowers to be so thick.  I mail a lot of my cards and in Canada the postage is not only expensive, it is also very finicky about shape and size etc.  So, I just try to steer clear of bulk.  However, yesterday I decided to try making a  flat fabric flower to see how it would look. 🙂  I’ve tried fabric flowers before, but cutting them was always a challenge.  I think the trick is to use a very light weight but still sturdy material.  I am going to play some more with different materials. I used very sheer polyester fabric …

Crafty Creations and Bugaboo Stamps

It’s Wednesday and time for another Crafty Creations Challenge!   This week is super easy!!  Just pick your favorite stamp and have fun!!  Our sponsor is BUGABOO STAMPS and the winner will receive 7 images!!! As part of the DT I picked this cute digi stamp from Bugaboo to use for my card today. I used Stampin’ Up! Sanded background stamp in Bermuda Bay on the Kraft base card.  The layer of bermuda bay is embossed with the swiss dots cuttlebug folder.  The image is colored with Copics: B24, G94, YG99, R27, R01, and a black marker. Poor little bug!!   I thought this sentiment stamp  from Paper Pretties “One of Those Days” was fitting for this image! Thanks so much for stopping by!! Your visits and comments inspire me!! Have a creative day! Deena

Birthday Cards!

Hi! It’s another beautiful hot day here in Montreal! I had a wonderful long weekend with the boys, swimming in our new pool, and have been spending most of my time outdoors! You know what that means…not a whole lot of stamping going on! I do have to get more birthday cards done and I have 70 wedding invitations to make for my niece, so I really should get inside my craft room…but it’s soooo hard when I’m enjoying the first sunny hot days of the season! I wish I had a craft area outdoors! lol These are some french birthday cards that I made last week.  They are clean and simple but I tried to use some eye catching colors for some pop! Have a wonderful, creative day!!!! Deena

Zen Long Weekend

Hi, I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend!  It’s a long weekend for us and it’s hot and sunny!! This has to be one of the best Victoria Day weekends in a long time!  We spent most of the day in our new pool and enjoyed a bbq for supper.  It was so relaxing…my eyelids are heavy and it’s only 8:15pm. Although I did not do any stamping today, I do have a “zen” card to share with you.  I made this on Thursday for the SCS Ways to Use it challenge. The challenge was to make a Zentangle.  Basically these are images that are created by doodling repetitive patterns.  It is a very relaxing  way to spend some time (this took me 10 minutes or so) and the result was very satisfying! I don’t doodle a lot so this took me by surprise.  I just sort of lost myself in what I was doing and had fun! If you would like to see more zentangle art here are some google images. Try your …

I was working on tags for my shop with these cute house images when I saw the perfect sketch in Lori Tecler’s gallery! She is the Featured Stamper this week on SCS. Frosted Window Technique

I hope all you Mom’s out there are having a great day!! My boys brought me breakfast in bed!  Their Daddy had made fresh strawberry pancakes, coffee and orange juice  and they brought it to me with big grins after letting me sleep in until 10am!  I got some sweet cards and kisses too! I am getting some “quiet time” to myself now and thought I’d post the card I made last night… I was inspired to make this after visiting Allee’s gallery.  She is the reigning queen for the Queen for the Day game on SCS.  If you would like to join in on the fun and games and honor Lynn as QFTD08 the SCS forum link is HERE. I used this “frosted window” technique that I first heard of at Toy’s Haven.  Holly came up with this technique and made a gorgeous floral card for the technique challenge she made it for,  so be sure to have a look! Here’s what I did (slightly different from Holly’s, because I used two different stamps …
