A Parfait Birthday!

This week’s Crafty Creations Challenge is a perfect summer treat!!  The theme, set by Claire, is ice cream/cake inspired creations!  I think I was in the mood for a sweet treat when I put this card together as it kinda makes me hungry every time I look at it! lol You will be seeing  a lot of birthday cards from me for a while…I have an order to fill…  🙂 I used Claire’s very own digital image (Hope Jacare Doodles) and you can find  her images available HERE. If you would like a chance to win some of her delightful doodles, then stop on by Crafty Creations Challenges and share your own yummy treat creation with us! Have a creative day!! Deena

A Birthday in full Bloom

Birthday blossoms in the shape of a cake!  This cute stamp is an oldie but a goody from MFT You Take the Cake set.  I stamped the background in Rich Razzleberry with a flower stamp from SU! Live Like You Mean it! set.   The “Bonne Fete” birthday greeting is from Bonnidee stamps.  I cased this lovely card HERE from the SCS featured stamper.  Of course I changed things…flipped the sketch, changed the colors and used different stamps, and a different border punch.  I used my Cricut to cut the frame. Hope you like it! It was a busy weekend with my  Son’s 9th birthday party on Sunday.  He had a great day for his pool party! We were so happy, because it rained for three days leading up to it!  We couldn’t have had a better day; it was hot, sunny and perfect. Thanks for stopping by, and have a creative day! Deena

Summer’s just about here!

My boys have 1 1/2 days left of school!! I’ve definitely got some mixed feelings about this.  On the one hand I am looking forward to the hot summer days and spending time with them in the pool and having time to play with them, carefree with  NO HOMEWORK and NOT having to make any more packed lunches! But on the other hand, I know that it also means hearing “I’m bored” every time they stop moving for half a second, and breaking up squabbles between brothers, and having many neighborhood kids running around my house at all hours of the day!  No more peaceful mornings for me!! Oh well, I am quite certain the happy moments will outweigh the others!  I’m ready! Bring it on!! I’ve made another thank you card for one of their teachers (I need 4 ) and I’ve used the sketch from Monday’s CAS challenge on SCS. Let me know what you think! I stamped, cut out and paper pieced the books using Unity Stamps Hodgepodge of  Happiness. The notepaper …

This Challenge had me in Stitches!

Wednesday already!  Yep, that’s hump day, mid week, 3 more days to the weekend!!  AND of course it means another Crafty Creations Challenge!  This week, Bernie is setting her very first challenge and it’s a fun one!! She has chosen to have us use stitches on our projects;  faux or real that’s up to you!   Whimsy Stamps is our terrific sponsor this week!! I had fun coloring this cutie!  I don’t do stitches often so that was kinda fun too! I had some help with the sketch this week…thanks to MMSC58, Priscilla Styles Midnight Madness sketch challenge! Thanks so much for stopping by!!  You know I enjoy your company! 😉 Deena

Coming Home Again

Hello my friends!  We arrived home on Wednesday afternoon after being away since Sunday.  It was a difficult few days, but everything went as well as could be expected under the circumstances.  For those of you who may not know, my Mother in Law passed away and we went to New Brunswick for her funeral.  We will miss her very much, but we console ourselves with the knowledge that she did not suffer long with the terrible disease that took her from us.  With terminal lung cancer she could have suffered a great deal and we are very grateful that she did not.  In fact, she had little pain and passed away in her sleep at home. Thank you so much for your condolences, prayers and kind comforting words over the last few days.  I am so very touched by your caring thoughts!!!  My children and husband are doing well, but we are all very tired.  A couple of days rest over the weekend will help get us back on track. SimplicityChallenge: one layer and …

Flourishes Sweet Strawberries

I’ve made this card for Steve and Donna; friends of my MIL who have been so wonderful in helping her, my SIL and our family in every way possible since my MIL was diagnosed with terminal cancer.  They have always been very good friends to my MIL, but they just went above and beyond if you know what I mean!  I made this on Wednesday after seeing the FTTC69 (one layer card),and was going to drop it in the mail for them today. Sadly, I am up at 5:30 am, writing this post because we got the phone call in the night that my sweet Mother In Law has passed on. I could not go back to sleep of course, so I am up trying to clear my head (and keep busy at the same time…is that possible?) before my boys wake up.  My husband, Des, has managed to get back to sleep (I hope).  We will have to make plans to go to New Brunswick, but we have no details yet.  When and how …

Best Teacher!

With the end of school in sight and our Crafty Creations challenge being a great color combo this week, this card was born!  I need a few teacher cards for “thank you’s” and this one will be for my son’s kindergarten teacher.  The Crafty Creations challenge theme set by Georgia is to make a card in black and white with a splash of red!  I love this combo, because it can be so elegant, or it can be striking and theatrical, or simply bold and fun!  The DT did a great job of showing all these styles I think, so pop on over for some inspiration! I used my Cricut to cut the boy/chalkboard silhouette and the book icon from “A Child’s Year”.  I get so much use out of the cartridge!!  So, I am also entering this into Speedy’s Friends challenge to make a silhouette card. The chalkboard words are from  a set called Homeroom by the Paper Company Studio, and Imaginisce snag ’em stamps.   The background stamp and the “thank you” behind the …
