Crafty Creations Button challenge

Phew it’s been a HOT few days here in Montreal!  My boys and I have been fully enjoying our pool! Am I ever glad we finally decided to put one in!  It’s been heaven having a way to cool off and spend some fun time with them and my husband when he gets home from work!

Having the boys home from school is proving to be fun but I sure don’t get much work done with them around!  That would be fine, except I have my niece’s wedding invitations to finish in the next two weeks, and a big birthday card order, as well a few other projects to get done this summer.  I hate to stay indoors working when my boys want to play and I need to be out there with them if they want to swim.  I started a daily routine of  reading with them. We’re reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing  by Judy Bloom.  AND no T.V or video/computer games in the afternoon!  I read to them for half an hour to 45 minutes,  and then get my 9 year old son to read a chapter to his little brother and myself to encourage him to practice his reading.  He is getting much better but it is a struggle for him still with his dyslexia.  Luckily, he enjoys books and I am hoping that his desire to read, along with  the work he’s putting into it, will overcome the difficulties he has.  Boy oh boy, do they love this book!!  I’m thrilled because I bought the whole series!  I read them all when I was 8 or 9, and I was pretty sure they would enjoy the adventures of Peter (9) and his little brother Fudge (3)!  Do any of you recall reading this series? It is still as wonderful as I remembered it!

On to my card for today!

The Crafty Creations Challenge is BUTTONS!  I made my own buttons by punching dp and light chipboard.  I glazed them with crystal effects, and used my crop a dile to make the center holes.  I tied baker’s twine to them and placed them on my CAS (clean and simple) card.  One more birthday card done!  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!  I hope you are having a creative and happy day!!

  1. Great color and simplicity of this card. I am with you on the balancing time right now. I don’t remember reading those books but I might have to invest in them. I think its great you are reading to them. I have the boys read to me so they get practice and I can listen more. :0)

  2. Great idea with the buttons… This is the perfect solution for my problem of not having the exact color of buttons I need. 😀
    Thanks for sharing.
Enjoy the summer and the pool with the boys!!!
