You’re a Hoot!

OWLS are popping up everywhere!  They are the theme this week at Crafty Creations Challenge blog and the design team had fun with a set called Owl Magic from our sponsor over at Blackleaf Studios.   I think owls are always fun to work with on a card and this one came together quickly for me. I colored this cute owl with copics inspired by the papers I used and cut him out.  He’s popped up on dimensional foam tape.  The sentiment is cut from “just because cards” cartridge in my Cricut Expression.  The card base is chocolate card stock cut to 4 3/4″ to fit my 5″ square envelopes.   I’d love to hear what you think of this whimsical card and I would really love to see your own OWL creations too!! I hope you’ll come join us for the challenge at Crafty Creations this week! Deena

Pumpkin Patch

The Featured Stamper on SCS this week is hobbydujour (Sallie) and her gallery is fabulous! I chose this lovely card in her gallery to inspire my card above. I started with a kraft card stock for the base and added a panel of green core impressions card stock. I sanded it lightly and distressed all the edges.  The image is colored with Copics.  I stamped a Flourishes Autumn Flourish sentiment and a leaf in bamboo versacolor in the background.  The dp is Bobunny Fall Festival.  I’m very happy with how this turned out! Hello Autumn!

The theme over at Crafty Creations Challenge blog this week is “Falling Leaves”;  I hope you’ll come and play with us!! I’ve scored a very vanilla cardstock base a half inch in lengthwise on the left and across the bottom, but I realize it’s hard to see in the picture.  The next panel is Basic grey dp (Indian Summer)  on a mat of chocolate cardstock.  I tucked two leaves (layered in kraft and dp) cut with the expression (Walk in my Garden cartridge) behind my favourite chocolate satin ribbon.  The sentiment is from Flourishes Taglines set, stamped in memento rich cocoa and punched with an SU! oval punch.  The edges are sponged with the same ink. What’s your weather like?  Today started out all blustery and cool like a real Fall day, but then did a complete switch too a balmy spring like day!!   I’m not complaining, but it sure makes picking what to wear in the morning, more of a challenge! lol Have a great day!! Two new baby girls in the family this summer, and here are the cards that I made for them, both in a z fold pattern. I’m a Great Aunt 4 times over now! Music/Dance Crafty Creations Challenge

This week Melissa has set her very first Crafty Creations challenge and is asking for a MUSIC OR DANCE related theme for our creations!  I decided to make a votive candle cover (battery operated NOT flame).  The digital image and paper are from the fabulous TIDDLY INKS, our sponsor this week! I printed the dp, then put it through the printer a second time to add in this sweet fairy(Fairy Fae catches a Star).  I colored her with my copics, and added some dazzling diamond glitter (Stampin’ Up!) to her wings and some of the stars in her hair.  I also added a tiny turquoise gem in her hair.  The sentiment is from Verve (Wild Thing) and makes me think of the song “Every little thing she does is Magic” by the Police. I simply folded the paper in thirds to create a somewhat triangular tube, keeping  a half inch edge at the back to secure it shut with some 1/4″ tacky tape.  I punched a heart shape on all three sides to let some …

Featured Stamper Distressed Texture

This card was inspired by the Featured Stamper (Terri A.k.a Die cut diva) today on SCS. I used Distress crackle paint, applying it to the kraft cs to get a textured cracked surface.  Then, I stamped various flowers, the  brick wall, and splatters on the 2″ x 2″ squares.  The squares are mounted on a 4.25″ bermuda bay panel of cardstock.  The finished card is 4.5″ square.  The bird is from 7gypsies clear stamps, cut out and popped up on  dimensional foam tape.

Grown With Love

Rustic beauty is the theme Flourishes has brought us with this month’s BBB02 (Bring Back Beautiful challenge).   I think this has a rustic Country charm feel to it, with the distressed seed packet and crochet flowers.   I stamped the seed packet and sentiments on kraft cardstock, then I did a little distressing around the edges and inked it with baja breeze and bermuda bay.   The papers are Crate papers (Samantha collection) that I’ve had for some time…when I like a certain dp, I always buy it in multiples! Thanks for stopping by today!  You know I enjoy your company! 😉 Deena

Nice Ride

My husband recently bought himself  a 2005  papaya orange  Audi  TT coupe quatro.  He’d been longing for a sports car for a while and  after struggling for some time with his practical self, gave in to the pleasure of owning a second car built for speed and performance, instead of child car seat capacity and luggage space.  Although he did ask my opinion, I have never been interested in cars, nor do I know a thing about them, but I knew it meant a lot to him, so I left it to him to decide what to do.  He originally wanted it in yellow, but found this great papaya orange instead!  At first I really didn’t like the idea of the yellow or any other bright color, but now I have to admit that I think the orange is a really cool look for this car! This week’s Crafty Creations Challenge was set by Claire (hopejacare) to the theme of  TRANSPORTATION.  So, I thought I’d make a card to congratulate Des on the purchase of …

On the Wings of a Butterfly

This week’s Crafty Creations challenge is WHITE PLUS ONE COLOR.   I decided on  blue and white and used a layer of translucent vellum embossed with my cuttlebug.   The edge is punched with a Martha Stewart daisy punch.   The butterflies are cut with my Cricut and the HOME DECOR cartridge.  I cut two layers, one from the dp and another from light cardboard to create the die cut.  I added two tiny blue pearls on each, and popped them up on foam dimensional tape.   I glued the vellum discreetly under the butterflies and at the corner that is tucked into a slit in the base blue layer dp. Papers: Pink Paislee Bayberry Cottage, Vellum Well,  I said I’d be back to talk about camp which was truly exhausting and I must admit, not much of a vacation for us adults!  Our boys enjoyed it and I’m glad they did.  Hopefully they will retain some good memories as I have of my childhood camping experiences.  I have so much more respect for my parents and what …
