First Birthday

This  CAS card was for my Great Niece for her 1st birthday this past weekend. We drove to Ottawa for a first birthday bash!   She is an adorable little girl, walking around and typically trying to get into everything! Happy Birthday sweet Taylor!   I’m so glad we were able to make it to the Ottawa celebration!!  We had another birthday party barbecue for my Sister in Law’s 50th and my sons birthdays combined, the very next day at my house,  so everyone in Ottawa drove the two hours to Montreal for that too!  We had a good time with our family, ate too much food and enjoyed the sunshine and hot weather that surprised us, since it was forecast to be rainy all weekend! 🙂  I’m so glad the weathermen were wrong!!  The kids had a blast in the pool! Here’s the birthday banner that I made for my Sister in Law’s 50th birthday, using my Cricut and Plantin School book, Straight from the Nest, and Stretch Your Imagination cartridges. Sparkle Magic

This week at  Crafty Creations DAWN is our lovely hostess and she is asking for “SPARKLY” creations!  LET IT SHINE is the name of the game, so bring your bling! Wags ‘n Whiskers Stamps generously provided the DT with some darling stamps that were just begging to sparkle and shine under their spotlights!  Stop by and leave some love for the wonderful ladies at Crafty Creations who bring their beautiful creations to the crafting table week after week. I used s.e.i Jocelyn glitter dp and rose card stock for my base and panels, and I followed the “Midnight Madness Sketch” this week.  There’s plenty of sparkle (dazzling diamond glitter dust Stampin’ UP!)  on her dress bodice, sleeves, trim and wand.  I’ve also added pink gems and there’s lots of shine in the dp too!  I thought this would be a fun magical birthday card for a little princess.  What do you think? Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day!! Deena

Pretty Petals Origami Flower Card

I have made many wonderful new friends through this blog and for that, I will always be grateful!!   Rosana is one such friend, all the way from Sao Paulo Brazil, that I met online when she sent me the most wonderful e-mail, sharing with me that my blog and creations had inspired her! **blush** She also tentatively asked  for some advice about starting her own blog, which she launched soon after.    I was so touched by that e-mail and those kind words from someone I sensed, and now know  to be a truly creative spirtit!  It meant so much to me to know that I had somehow inspired someone so far away from my own home here in Canada, by way of this incredible blogging journey that I began two and a half years ago! You may have been to her blog before and if you have not…well my friends, you are all in for a treat!!  She is sensational!  Her work is original and beautiful and her albums are especially meaningful!  I’m sure …

Big Deal Dad!

Dad is a BIG DEAL around here!  Our boys love spending time with their Dad;  whether it’s playing games, watching movies, having him read to them at bedtime, or  helping him around the house! He is the best DAD ever and they adore him!! Of course, he adores them too!!! I love this image from Lynne Stansbery for SQUIGGLEFLY!  It’ called His Father’s Son.  And yes, I think our boys have big shoes to fill if they are to follow in his footsteps! I made my own computer generated sentiment as I did not have one I liked for the image.  The papers are ECHO PARK  walk in the park, and I used COPICS to color the image.  My husband’s favorite color is yellow, did you guess?!  I’ve also used today’s sketch from SCS. Squigglefly’s challenge  this week is “make it masculine”! Since Father’s Day is right around the corner, it’s perfect timing! Just Imagine!

Imagine the possibilities… What would you wish for if you had only 3 wishes?  And like I tell my son, you can’t wish for more wishes!!  It is hard to limit ourselves isn’t it?  Well this week you don’t have to!  You can use your imagination and there’s no limit to your imagination is there?? CRAFTY CREATIONS wants to see you  use your imaginations to bring all your fun imaginary characters to the party!! The Design team had fun playing with Pattieboop from Pattie’s Creations and she likes to dress up, so today she’s a genie!  Isn’t she fun?  I colored her with copics and glittler pencils. The background paper is new HideAway glitter dp from First Edition Papers, that I cut 1 1/4″ wide, using three different panels. Come join in the challenge and be sure to have a look at the Design Team’s inspiration samples at Crafty Creations! I’m entering these great challenges too!! CRAFTS and ME – Bling it on!! Ladybug Hello

StamperCamper (Mary) is the Featured Stamper this week on SCS.   She has a wonderful gallery of cards to look through and I was inspired to case a cute hello card. In keeping with CASING   a card, I changed it in a few ways to put my own spin on it.  I kept the sketch the same but flipped it, used ladybugs in place of her buttons on the punched circles, used different colors and added a HI in place of a hello. I also used baker’s twine instead of ribbon to finish it. The ladybug and the ‘Hi’ are  mini rubber stamps from my local scrapbook store, sold at the checkout and unmarked so I am not sure who makes them.  I bought the baker’s twine at ETSY.

Birthday Pin and Pearl

We celebrated our son Ronin’s 7th birthday today!  He’s my baby and I can’t believe he’s already 7.  Time really does fly!  Our first son’s birthday will follow soon…his is on the 27th and he’ll be 10!!    We had a great day, low key, just us…he wanted McDonald’s as a treat and we had sushi as our treat! lol  Cake and gifts followed and everyone was happy, especially the birthday boy!!  What more could we want? On to today’s card!  I made a birthday card (always need those) and I used the sketch from SCS to start it off and took the Cute Card Thursday Challenge (pins and pearls) and the Papertake Weekly challenge (anything goes and optional all white with one other color) .  I would like to enter this card in the challenge at Paper Sundaes (sentiments) as well. I stamped the flower (Stampin’ Up! Live like you Mean It) in versamark inks and heat embossed with clear powder.  Then, I water colored over the stem and blossom.   The base card is Not …

Bon Voyage!

I used a technique called “Direct to Paper” and made this Bon Voyage vacation/travel card.   The tutorial is on SCS if you would like to have a look. I used Versa Color and Color Box chalk inks to create the sun and the waves, stamped the Technique Tuesday ship and sentiment in Versa Color Bark ink, and added the crinkled seam binding through two set eyelets.  The result?  Well, I’ll let you be the judge of that! I took the Color Throwdown challenge: blue, green, and yellow! Thanks for stopping by!  You know I enjoy your company!! Deena

Proud of my Little Lion

My son is just finishing up a 10 week reading program in French as a second language and he reached a level beyond the target for the program!  We are so proud of him and I thought I’d make him a bookmark as a little gift.  His birthday is this week too, he’s turning 7!  I always give my boys a few special books as graduation gifts at the end of the school year,  so I know he’ll be happy to have it. This week at Crafty Creations Peggy has given us a themed OVER THE RAINBOW challenge inspired by the song from Wizard of Oz.   Perfect! My son LOVES rainbows! The image is COURAGEOUS CARL from our sponsor this week; Whimsy Stamps!   I drew in the rainbow and clouds myself as I didn’t have one to use.  The back is stamped with a “This book belongs to” sentiment from Unity  and ” You amaze me” from Verve stamps. Stop by Crafty Creations Challenges to see all the fabulous creations that the team worked on …
