Back To School ~ A New Image

I drew this image yesterday, as back to school is heavy on my mind! My son asked me if it was him?  ” Because I have a backpack just like that!”  🙂 I made this card inspired by a few different challenges tonight; I’ll list those below.   I can’t wait to hear what you think of  my new drawing! I colored him with copics and did my best to do some proper shading since he is a pencil drawing and there’s plenty of indication as to where to shade when coloring.  When I clean up the image digitally, I  try not to take away most of the original sketch lines/shading.  I love the look.  If you have ever colored any Flourishes images you’ll know what I’m talking about, since their images have those extra areas of dark lines that naturally show where the shading belongs. I made this card with my older son in mind, and since he’s 10, I didn’t want it looking to0 ‘kiddy’.  No primary colors, no cute school icons etc.  I …

Book Plates for Back to School

I was playing with Corel paint essentials and decided to color my image for this week’s CRAFTY CREATIONS CHALLENGE digitally.  It’s really fun, but there’s alot to learn!  That’s o.k though, I’m up for the challenge! But don’t worry, I’m not going all digital on you! I just wanted to try something a little different this week. The challenge is to show your INNER ANIMAL!   Well, we all have a wild side right?  I DO!! Of course, it’s usually in the morning before I’ve had my first cup of coffee! 😉 GRRRrrr. Beware the claws! This great lion image is from DIGIS WITH ATTITUDE!  Doesn’t he look fierce?!   I wanted to make these book plates for my son, since he will be needing some for back to school.  I hope he likes them! Have a creative day everyone!  Stop by CRAFTY CREATIONS with your  inner animal cards and crafts, so you can enter the challenge! Deena

Let’s Sail With Squigglefly!

Hey everyone! Glad to see you pulled yourselves out of bed this rather gloomy Monday morning!  Or is it just gloomy for me…? Maybe so, since my husband had to go back to work today after our week’s stay home vacation…! AND it’s cool and rainy outside too, which doesn’t help since I’m feeling that summer is coming to an all too sooooooon end!!  PLEASE don’t let it be so, I pray for  a few more good hot weeks!!  This is also my boys’ last week before school starts and for you Moms out there; I know that comes with mixed feelings for most, elated cries of joy for some, and even a few tears for others.  I can happily say that this summer was so busy and fun and sunny hot, that I really enjoyed every minute of it with my boys!  I can’t believe how quickly their time home from school has gone.  I’m sure that they feel the same. Anyhoo…today’s card is very fitting since the SQUIGGLEFLY CHALLENGE is WATERWORKS! I’ve used …

Embossed Thank You

I’m bringing the heat today with a technique that I’m guilty of neglecting! I love the effect, so I really should use it more often! I heat embossed the background with ash rose versacolor ink (dries slower so emboss powder clings), and did the same for the die cut butterfly.   I tied some embroidery thread in a similar ash rose color around the soft pink wrinkled seam binding. The seam binding is tied in a double bow, for a loopy look.   Added some pink pearls and voila! Stamps: Flourishes Taglines thank you, Cornish Heritage Farms Beautiful, Paper: Bo Bunny gabrielle collection, vanilla cs, Ink: ash rose versa color, pumice stone distress ink, Accessories: clear emboss powder, heat tool,  wrinkled seam binding, cricut, Give a Hoot Cartridge, Graphically Speaking A few fabulous challenges I am entering my card in: Clearly Inspired Stamp challenge: Things with wings Joyful Stamper: Inspire me Fridays anything goes DYSU Challenge Blog: Emboss it! Best in Sew Digital Images

Hello! I’ve made a card with a bit of a vintage look tonight, using a couple of images that I drew in pencil, then digitized.  I’m new to making my own digital images, but since I’ve been drawing again of late, I really wanted to have a go at it.  I am pretty happy with the results, and I actually find it very therapeutic to ‘clean’ them up using my windows paint program.  I like that they still look like pencil drawings in the end too.   Not quite as polished as some images, but I think that adds character!  I’ve always been drawn to things in their more natural state.  🙂   What do you think? I used Pink Paislee 365 degrees dp for the top and bottom panels, and LilyBee designs This and That for the image panel.  The images are printed on vanilla cardstock and the card base is the same.   The sketch is from the SCS challenge: SC345. I hope you like it…I was a bit nervous about sharing this one, but …

A Sketch Challenge

Hello!  Sure has been quiet around the web lately…everyone must be trying to get in as much summer as possible before it’s over!  I cannot believe we are already into August!  My boys go back to school on the 30th!!!  I am so sad  about it.  Yup, I’m not tired of them being home every day with me, yet!! 🙂   This summer has been really fabulous and we don’t want it to end! Anyway, onto my card for today.   CRAFTY CREATIONS  is at it again with another fun challenge for us!  This week Donna has given us a sketch to follow and a challenge to make male birthday cards! Delicious Doodles is our sponsor and I’ve used one of their fabulous images called “In the Harbour” for my card. I’ve used papers from the DCWV going green stack.  I love these colors and the texture of the paper gives it so much character I think.  The image is colored with copics  in shades of browns, greys and blues with just a touch of red on …

CAS Belated Occasion Cards

Hi all!  I have two clean and simple cards to share today.  I forgot to put them up last week, when I played the “belated” CAS challenge on SCS. I’ve used the White Rabbit from Alice in wonderland on both cards. It’s an antique image from a children’s book that I downloaded from The Graphics Fairy.  I stamped the pocket watch from Cornish Heritage Farms and cut it out to string with embroidery thread.  The dp is from the DCWV going green stack.   They are pretty self explanatory; easy quick cards to make. Thanks for stopping by today and if you have a moment, I’d  love to hear what you’ve been up to as well! Leave me a link to your own blogs and I’ll stop by to say hello! Have a wonderful, creative day! I’m off to make a cheesy zucchini bake with some fresh basil and thyme. Yum!  Deena

Squigglefly Button Blowout

Time for a Squigglefly challenge!  Buttons are wonderful embellishments for our cards.  They are easily found, inexpensive, and can be made from all types of materials too.  So get out your buttons, or make your own with chipboard or polymer clay, shrink plastic or whatever else you can dream up! Don’t forget to link up your creations over at Squigglefly’s BLOG for a chance to win a Squigglefly image! I’ve used this adorable image from Cheryl Alger called “Birthday Cake Desire”.   The image is colored with copics in shades of brown, pink and peach.  The button is a very old large brown button from my stash. Case Study Thank You

Hello! I just finished an absolutely inspiring blog hop over at CASE STUDY!  The Design Team and their ‘muses’ are so incredibly talented!  I have only just discovered their challenge and it happens to be their 1 year challenge anniversary.  I knew I was going to play along  in the hop and in the challenge to CASE one of the DT members. I chose LIMEDOODLE (Debby) as my case study for my card today.  I love her CAS style and the lovely fresh colors she uses! This is my card… Paper: Lime Twist Life of the Party, white cs, bermuda bay cs Stamps: Botanical Blooms, Branch Out: Stampin’ Up!
