Giving Thanks

It’s time to give thanks!  It’s American Thanksgiving this weekend, and at Crafty Creations  we are showing our gratitude in many different ways with many different projects! I’ve followed the Stamp with Fun sketch for my card, and I was also inspired by The Shabby Tea Room ‘colors of nature’ photo inspiration challenge.  I loved the colors and I knew I had to use my “Apple Cider” digital image for this thank you card.  It just seemed to fit the occasion! I colored the image with copics in only 4 simple colors!  (E08 for the cinnamon sticks and E11 to lighten them a bit, and for the inside rim of the mug, YG93 for the mug, and R14 with a bit of shading in with E08 again on the apple.) The  background paper and red panel are from Cosmo Cricket Odds & Ends and the others are some scraps I had laying on the table.  For a simple embellishment I’ve tied a little bow with red crinkle ribbon that I purchased on Etsy. I hope those of you …

Squigglefly Sketch

This week Heather’s Headliners is challenging us to make some fun cards using Heather’s sketch and I thought I’d play along even though it isn’t my week for the DT samples.  I couldn’t resist! I used one of  Marlene’s new images available at  Squigglefly called “ Nerdy Boy Santa“.  I colored him with copics in colors similar to the background dp.  The dp is  Cosmo Cricket ‘Jolly by Golly’, and I matted it with Bazzill red, and white card stock.  The sentiment is Studio g. Join in the challenge at Squigglefly and don’t forget to use one of Squigglefly’s many fabulous images (you’ll find some of mine there too) for your chance to win a prize! Have a creative day! Naughty Or Nice?

Santa wants to know if you’ve been NAUGHTY or  NICE?!  He’s making a list and checking it twice! O.k so we’re NOT ALL PERFECT! lol  Some of us will be getting COAL IN OUR STOCKINGS this Christmas!  But it isn’t going to be me!! Thank you to AUDREY GOODWIN who left this idea in her comment: “We need something for naughty people. Coal and switches, a little humor. Love your ideas already.” I really liked the idea of the coal as my Mom always teased us about that when we were kids! I sometimes worried I would find a big black hunk of coal at the bottom of my Christmas stocking!  Luckily, I never did! AUDREY please select any digital  image you like from my A Creative Need shop and e-mail me your choice.  I will send you the BAG Of Coal image and the image of your choice!  Thanks so much for your fun idea! I loved ALL your ideas, and I may yet use them too!  I decided that since there were only …

Orchids For Someone Special

Hello!! How is your weekend going?  I had a very satisfying,  productive day Saturday as I declared it an ‘unplugged’ day!  None of us was allowed to use/work/play on our computers or video game consoles, or I pods!  Not one video/computer game was played all day!  That’s really something in our house!!  No e-mails were sent, no internet shopping/surfing was done, not even blogging!  I even stopped myself from using my I pad to look up a recipe!  The boys helped their Dad outside with yard work and putting away the patio furniture, whittled some sticks, played, cleaned their rooms (which they do every Saturday) and tidied up the play room.   I cleaned up the house and taught my son how to use the washing machine to do his own load of laundry (for his Scouts badge).  We had errands to run, so we went out for a bit and they each got a book  that they then read later at home! Yay!  The best part? There was actually very little moaning or complaining about …

Baby it’s Cold Outside!

The Ways to Use it challenge on SCS this week is just what my title says…Baby it’s Cold Outside!  So anything wintry/snowy works! I used Deconstructing Jen’s great sketch for my card; I love it!  I used frosty blues and pale greens for a cool wintry look and colored my ‘Mr. Snowman’  image with copics and added FUN FLOCK  to the snow at his feet.  The top border is punched using an Martha Stewart snowflake punch, and I tied an SU! ribbon in red.   I added a sentiment to the bottom in red stazon ink.  The papers are from Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly  and I used Bazzill cardstock. ‘Mr. Snowman’ image is available at A Creative Need.   I am entering this card in these challenges: Deconstructed Sketch #28 Moving along with the Times– Let it snow! Crafter’s Companion– Let it snow! Make it Monday – anything goes Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day!!  Deena

Crafty Creations is Recycling!

Peggy thought  we could use any recycled item we have hanging around our crafting tables or in our craft rooms.  Easy and good for the environnement right!  Right Peggy!!    I’m happy to say that I’m sponsoring this week’s Crafty Creations Challenge with images from A Creative Need!  I am blown away by the creativity of the team with their recycled projects!! They are aaaaahhhsome!!  Be sure to stop by the challenge blog to see what they all came up with and to play the challenge of course!  Here’s what I did using my brand spanking new image available as of today!  “Dear Santa”  I colored him with prismacolor pencils aiming for a well lived in, classic look.  The edges of the image are sponged with pumice stone ink and backed with a piece of recycled kraft paper from an old card.  Then I matted that with Chestnut glitter AC card stock that my son had bought for me last Christmas.  I recycled some broken brads by using crystal effects to adhere them to the …

Here Comes Santa Claus!

I used my newest  A Creative Need image “Santa’s Hat and Sleigh Bell”  and colored it with copics. I added some fun flock to the fur and also the snowflake embellishment; I think it looks so festive!  The background is embossed with snowflakes using the cuttlebug.  The sentiment is from Flourishes “Sweets of the Season”. New Images, A Mini Contest Giveaway and a Holiday Sale!

Wow, how time flies!  We are already into our second week of November and I’ve even started my Christmas shopping for the boys!  Have you started shopping yet?  I hate to wait until the last minute, so I try to get it done in November and then December is for preparing and baking etc.  I hate crowds and really try to avoid the shopping centers!   I actually do a lot of my shopping online and it saves me time, effort and money. Shipping costs don’t seem so high when you consider the gas money you spend running from mall to mall, not to mention the value you can put on your time saved.   I value my time more than anything!! Speaking of saving some money…I’m having a Holiday Sale on my Digital images at A CREATIVE NEED this WEEKEND Nov. 11-14th! Use coupon code: DIGIWEEKENDSALE during the check out process and you will automatically get 15% off your purchase(s)!! NEW RELEASE Christmas Images! I was wondering if anyone has suggestions as to what type of …
