Gems and Twine Masculine Style

One of my nephews left on an adventure of his young lifetime…leaving his small hometown of Stratford Ontario for whatever he may find in Medicine Hat Alberta!   I snapped this picture of him and his Dad, my brother, the night before he left. So proud of you Paul!!  I hope you enjoy every moment of your journey!  Hey big brother,  don’t be too sad to see him go…he’s all grown up, you’ve done a wonderful parenting  job,  and now you have a great reason to travel out West! Alright, now moving onto my card for the Crafty Creations Challenge… Our challenge this week at Crafty Creations is GEMS and TWINE, so I’ve tied some multicolored twine around the base and added  star patterns of gems. The image is from our sponsor, San’s Designs!  It’s called Hangin’ Out. I loved the sketch  from Skipping Stones Sketch Challenge so I designed my card using it, and I’m entering this in their challenge too. Have a great day and come join in the challenge at Crafty Creations!  Deena

Inspired Artisan: JULIANN of Lotus Blossoms Designs

WELCOME BACK  to another INSPIRED ARTISANS FRIDAY FEATURE!!  Please help me in welcoming Juliann, here to tell us a bit about her craft today!    My name is Juliann Thomas and I am an Illustrator and Potter. I have always loved creating and following my artistic passion has been a fun journey! I studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia and received my BFA in Illustration and Sculpture. After an exciting move to Texas, I began working for a large-scale mural company in Dallas, creating highly-detailed murals for PF Chang’s Restaurants. It was exciting using my Illustrative and Painting skills on such a large scale. After a few years I began my own mural company and continued creating for Restaurants and Private Clients. Now with the arrival of my little one I am working on altered art to sell at my Etsy shop so I can raise my daughter while continuing to feed my creative side daily! What handmade product do you to sell on Etsy and what is the name …

Five Darlings Birthday Card

I’ve made a birthday card for a 5 yr old for this week’s Crafty Creations Challenge.   It’s a color challenge using the OLYMPIC RING COLORS…blue, black, red, yellow, green! A Day for Daisies is the sponsor this week and I’ve use Five Vintage Darlings for my image.  I’ve colored it digitally with chalk using Corel Painter Essentials, and the card was digitally designed using elements from My Memories Suite Software.  What does that mean? Well, the whole card except the added dew drops is a one layer printed card front.  The banner and the matted image, as well as the stitching are all digitally applied.  The chipboard number is also a digital element.  When I was satisfied with the layout and elements, I print the card front.   I added it to a white card base for a more layered look, added the dew drops and took the photo of the finished card outside.  I love how the sun sparkles off the dew drops! Have a creative day and I hope you’ll join us …
