No one Sweeter than my Sister!

I made this one for my sweet, wonderful sister who drove over two hours on the spur of the moment the other day, to spend  the day with me! I really needed a visit with her, as I was so missing her and hadn’t seen her all summer.  She knew it, and I didn’t even have to say it! She spent the day, and we chatted, and gossiped and laughed like sisters do, while our kids had a blast together too! I can not tell you how much that day meant to me! And I can’t thank her enough. She even made us a batch of chocolate chip cookies before she drove back home that evening!! She’s the best little Sis a girl could ever want! This was also for the sketch challenge #193 on SCS for wednesday. Stamps: Paper Pretties Sweets for the Sweet Paper: Chocolate Chip SU, Bazzill yellow cs, Martha Stewart Playful scraps, close to Cocoa cs Ink: Basic Black Accessories: water color crayons, blender pen, Crate ribbon Crush, Cuttlebug &  Spots …

An Apple for the Teacher

Hi all!  This is the back to school card I made for my son. I used Paper Pretties stamps; Look out world and  Off to School for the sentiment.  Isn’t Cooper cute, swinging his little lunchbox?  I think he’s so fun!  I matted the image with Kiwi Kiss and Red Riding Hood Stampin’ Up! card stock.  The dp is Stampin’ Up! Summer picnic.  I doubled up the ribbon, using old olive from SU and a striped red (unknown) from my stash. I’m keeping this short and sweet, because I’ve been tired from getting up earlier since school started.  I’m not used to it, and have i mentioned, I’m NOT a morning person?! Thanks for stopping by!

Back To School Blues

My boys both started school this morning, one in grade 2 and the other in preschool.  I was quite sad about it yesterday, not looking forward to the routine, and not liking the idea that my little one will now seemingly need me less! Ha! I know that’s silly, of course he still needs me, maybe even more so when exposed to the ‘real world’.  But still, I guess I am just being a “mom” and worrying about the future, wondering how I will keep those doors of communication open, when i am not there to see and hear and be a part of every little thing that goes on in my children’s lives.  Also, I have to face the fact that they are not babies anymore, and that does make me sad.  Even though I do look forward to seeing how they will change and grow at the different stages of their lives, I will miss that special time (as exhausting as it was) when they were babies in my arms. O.k enough of …

Rockin’ the Metal!

This little 4.25″ square card was inspired by the  Y.ou K.now Y.ou R.ock! challenge Blog!  The August challenge is to make a card with metal on it.  Lots of metal! You can see Deb and Julie’s samples HERE. Here’s the heavy on the metal 😉 The focal image is stamped in Staz On, and colored in with 8 different colors of sharpie markers on a metal circle plate.  I added silver metal eyelets and a metal butterfly charm too.  The mat behind the Martha Stewart designer paper is a green metallic cardstock from DCWV’s Metallic Mat Stack. I love the contrast of the cold metal against the softness of the image and the light colors of the dp. I chose this image, because I’ve always loved the look of a metal watering can.  You know, the old fashioned ones, especially when they get a bit rusty.  There’s just such an earthy goodness about it! Hope you like how I rocked the metal for this challenge!  If you do, you can vote for it (and me) …

A Pretties Party Challenge

The second card I made during the Paper Pretties Release party on Friday night… I had fun with this one! I intended it as a birthday party invite, as the challenge was to do something for a party.  Not sure who will use it though…since I have two boys!! You should come to the party too, next time!  It was fun, and we all did what we love to do (chat and make cards) 😉 and you can go shopping too! hehehe.  Speaking of which, I did a lot of shopping lately…and I’m expecting lots of goodies in my mailbox anytime now!!  Can’t wait!   I went to Walmart yesterday and was thrilled to see that they just got in a beautiful new line of Martha Stewart ‘Create’ !  It’s new to us here in Quebec anyway.   I bought papers, glitter, glue and some great dual tip dye ink markers!! FUN!!  But now I’m poor… oh well.  I’m sure I’ll survive to spend another day!  🙂 I’ve also noticed that I am getting closer to …

Three Challenges, A Party, and a Prize!

Hellooo!   I’m in a pretty great mood right about now! I had a funtastic night at the Paper Pretties Release Party!  We chatted, had some laughs and even crashed the site! Well, they got it back up and running in no time and the party continued at a speedy pace!  I am not used to these forum parties, and had a bit of trouble keeping up with reading and responding to posts as they whizzed by on my screen!   But, I did catch on pretty fast; I’m a quick study! 🙂  heehee In the midst of all this excitement we were also challenged to make cards!  Of Course!!  The first challenge was set by Charmaine .  She challenged us to make a black and white card with just a splash of one other color!  This is what I came up with… I decided to go with red, which I very rarely use!  I think it works well with black and white and definitely makes a statement.  Sort of like Sophia, here!  She has a …

Buttons and Bunny Slippers!

O.k I don’t own any bunny slippers…but I wouldn’t be opposed to wearing them when I’m feeling sick!  🙂 Bunnies can cheer just about anyone up! I made this little 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 square card for a triple challenge!  I used Friday Sketchers sketch#12 , incorporated the color challenge from SCS, and finally the inspiration for the card in the first place…Paper Pretties weekly challenge! Their challenge was to use buttons, as many as we wanted to. Isn’t she cute?  This is Sophie from Paper Pretties!  She is so fun to colour and I decided to cut her out for this, since it suited the sketch.  I tied the buttons with a little thread too, I think it adds just the right touch. Stamps: Paper Pretties Bunny Slippers Paper: Afternoon tea SU, Groovy Guava, Sahara Sand substituted with DCWV cs Ink: Basic Black, Going Gray Accessories: buttons, thread, circle scallop punch, Neocolor II watersolouble crayons, blender brush So glad you stopped in!  Hope you are inspired by something you see here! 🙂 Have …
