Music/Dance Crafty Creations Challenge

This week Melissa has set her very first Crafty Creations challenge and is asking for a MUSIC OR DANCE related theme for our creations!  I decided to make a votive candle cover (battery operated NOT flame).  The digital image and paper are from the fabulous TIDDLY INKS, our sponsor this week! I printed the dp, then put it through the printer a second time to add in this sweet fairy(Fairy Fae catches a Star).  I colored her with my copics, and added some dazzling diamond glitter (Stampin’ Up!) to her wings and some of the stars in her hair.  I also added a tiny turquoise gem in her hair.  The sentiment is from Verve (Wild Thing) and makes me think of the song “Every little thing she does is Magic” by the Police. I simply folded the paper in thirds to create a somewhat triangular tube, keeping  a half inch edge at the back to secure it shut with some 1/4″ tacky tape.  I punched a heart shape on all three sides to let some …

Feature Presentation

I cased this week’s Featured Stamper, Kay (SpeedyStamper) on SCS.  HERE is her lovely card, if you would like to take a peek. This is what I came up with… The changes I made: I added a layer, changed the stamp, embossed the background, left off the sentiment, and changed the ribbon from pink to sheer black. I love this embossing folder, and I really love how it looks on this pearly white Bazzill Oyster paper!  I was asked to make an engagement card for someone, so I thought this would work out nicely.  I used  a Verve heart stamped in black and colored in with pink.  I like using black for a touch of elegance.  What do you think? Stamps: Verve Paper: Bazzill Oyster, Basic Black, Pink Pirouette, Ink: Archival Ink Jet Black Accessories: Sheer Black ribbon, scallop punch, cuttlebug, floral fantasy folder, MS pink marker Techniques: dry embossing Thanks for stopping in! It means a lot to me that you do!  Have a great day!

Paper Punch ATC’s

Some of my SBS18 sisters and I had an ATC swap this month and the theme was to “Roll with the Punches”. I made this purse and shoes ATC using a Stampin’ Up! large tag punch, a 1″ and a 1.25″ circle punch, and corner rounder, some flower punches and a mini shoe punch. The background is a colorwash, using glimmer mists by Tattered Angels and shimmering mists by Lumin Arte.  I used glitter as well…’cause a girl’s got to have her glitter! The one on the left is already on its way to Donna, and I’m not sure yet about the second. Thanks so much for stopping in! Tomorrow I’ll share how I made some inexpensive and easy covered notepads.

Beautiful Daze!

It’s a Beautiful Day!  That’s true, but I’m talking about the theme for this week’s SBS18 challenge!   The theme chosen by my sweet SBS18 sister, Jenny, is “Beautiful days”, forgive me for changing it in my title~ heehee- she wanted something hippie, happy, and a little musical! She was going to an outdoor Levellers concert, so I think the theme was definitely influenced by this! 🙂 Go take a look at the other design team samples and play along for a prize! For my dt sample, I pulled out my only hippie like stamp from Sideshow Stamps.com, and inked her up!  Isn’t she fun!?  I colored her with my Letraset Promarkers, and  a blender brush.  Sideshow Stamps has a fabulous variety of retro, cool, and even goulish stamps, that you simply have to check out! I had to do some masking for this, to make it look as though she is sitting in that retro egg chair.  I first masked off part of the chair on the stamp, stamped it, then masking the chair on the …

Father’s Day, A lazy hazy Day of Summer!

Goodmorning! How was everyone’s weekend? We had such a fun Father’s day! We weren’t at the beach, but we were playing in water with the kids in our own backyard! Think baby pools and sprinklers and you’ll get the idea! I made this at the end of our day and left it on my husband’s pillow for him to find. I just thought the image captured a bit of the lazy summer day that we all enjoyed! I did find the coloring of this image a bit tricky, but I’m pleased with the end result. I used my Letraset aqua markers and aqua brush pen to paint it. I cut it out for a dimensional effect, but kept the card simple, because the image is enough to stand on it’s own I think. Aren’t these turtles by Cornish Heritage Farms cute? Tom Allen has designed a whole line of Friendly Kritters! They’re all adorable! click for larger image Stamps: Cornish Heritage Farms Beach Turtles , Verve Visual Happy Thoughts Paper: Basic Grey Two Scoops, Bashful …

Pretty Pleats with Sugar on Top?

This card was inspired by some very pretty fabrics for the inspiration challenge over at SCS. I decided to pleat my paper to make a fabric effect. I also frayed the edges which I think helped it look more like aged fabric too. Aren’t these papers pretty? I love the soft victorian feel of them. They are from the K-ology (K& Company) Verbena Scrap Pad. I used a sentiment from Verve Visual’s Happy Thoughts set. Guess who this will be for ! Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday! Deena

A Birthday Suprise Success!

I pulled it off! I actually surprised Des with a birthday dinner! He had no clue there would be 10 other people at the restaurant I took him to for dinner. He is not easy to surprise and he is extremely difficult to buy birthday gifts for, so I am very pleased with myself! 🙂 We had a great time at our favourite sushi restaurant, Kaizen Sushi Bar, and went for drinks afterwards…it was a late night for us but well worth the headache this morning! I forget how much fun it is to go out in downtown Montreal. I used to do it so often in my twenties….but, now with kids it becomes much more difficult to find the time (when we’re not exhausted) and much more expensive (babysitter)! I have a hard time making masculine cards, as I think a lot of us do! So, for Des’ B-Day card I cased my friend Colleen, who also happens to be my SU upline. She is wonderful, supportive and inspired me to start stamping! She …
