Mother’s Bouquet

I’ve combined the colors from this week’s COLOR THROWDOWN with FLOURISHES twinchies challenge.  Ever hear of a twinchie?  It’s a 2″ x 2″ piece of mini art that should be the focus of your card.  This mini version of Flourishes gorgeous Gerbera Daisies is the stamp I chose to use simply as my focus for this Mother’s Day card.  I colored them with copics in four shades of pink and two shades of green. These are the lovely colors for this week’s color throwdown.  I didn’t have to go far to find them. My 6″ x6″ pad of Sultry Basic Grey papers were calling me! Papers:  pink and basic gray cardstock (SU!) Stamps: Flourishes Gerbera Daisies, Stampin’ Up! All Holidays sentiment Ink: memento tuxedo black Accessories: copics: R01, R11, R20, V01,YG93,G94, Stampin’ Up! basic gray ribbon, dimensional foam I’m so glad you stopped by, enjoy a creative day! A Flourishes Celebration- Silke’s Pink Challenge

It is Celebration Time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenges!    The week of February 2-8, 2010 marks Flourishes Timeless Tuesday’s ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY! I was absolutely thrilled to be invited to join in their celebrations by making sample cards for the Design Team challenges!!! I hope you enjoy them and they help inspire you to join in the fun too!!  There are six different challenges being posted and I have samples for three, so hold on to your crafting chair, you’re in for a treat!! There will be lots of amazing prizes at the Flourishes blog! Here’s my second sample card, this one is  for Silke’s “think pink” challenge (FTTC52D)! Please check out the Flourishes Anniversary Celebration post to find out how to play along! I thought right away of the “Think Pink” set for this challenge, and as I need more breast cancer awareness cards it was perfect! I stamped the dress in Versamark on glossy paper and embossed it with Super Fine detail embossing powder (Ranger).   I sponged over it with Pretty in Pink …

Sweet Happy Birthday!

I have a couple of cards for a couple of challenges to show you all today.  I was feeling uninspired on my own last night, and needed a push in the right direction!  So, of course I turned to the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge and found myself using  a lovely sketch by Silke.  Second, I used the colors of the color challenge on SCS to use pretty in pink, rich Razzleberry and Chocolate chip.   Such a yummy color combo don’t you think? I used the Flourishes Birthday Celebrations stamp and the Strawberries stamp for the sentiment.  I stamped the cupcake 3 times to build my little tower of cakes.  They’re colored in with Copics.  Instead of a panel in the background I used a piece of crocheted ribbon in a pretty pink. The Crafty Creations challenge this week is to use at least 3 different TEXTURES!  I made my DT card below using embossing,  textured paper and cotton ribbon as my three different textures.   The card above also has textured card stock, crochet ribbon and …

Santa’s Watching!

It’s a COLOR THROWDOWN challenge  AND a Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge!   Flourishes is also sponsoring the Color Throwdown challenge this week so I just had to play along.  It is my first time playing the color challenge but I’m sure it won’t be the last! These are the colors we had to work with and they are very similar to the SCS color challenge this week too.   I love these rich colors together! I just received my new Flourishes Santa image and Drummer Boy images in the mail on Monday, so I’m so excited to use them!   I just love this Santa face! !  He’s the jolly Santa I always pictured in my mind as a child and  he makes me smile! Stamps: Flourishes Santa-I Believe Ink: Vintage Photo Paper: K& Company Elizabeth Brownd paper pad,Chocolate chip cs, white cs Accessories: Copics – YG99, YG95, R29, R27,  Borderabilities snowflake border edge Thanks for stopping by!! You know I love your company! 😉

Fight Like a Girl!

October is breast cancer awareness month as I’m sure many of you are only too aware.  It’s hard these days to find someone who has not in some significant way been touched by cancer, be it through a friend or family member or a personal struggle. It is everyone’s fight! With this in mind, a few challenges have been focusing on making cards that are getting us to “think pink”.  I’ve made my card today for two of these.  First, Flourishes challenge asking us to use pink and the Cuttlebug Spot asking for pink embossed creations. I recently bought a fabulous set called Think Pink- Fight Like A Girl from Flourishes that has many amazing images for making breast cancer awareness cards.  If you haven’t seen it, and are looking for something a little different this is really a must see.  I was so excited to see something fresh and different for making this type of card!  I know many of you make lots of these cards throughout the year for charity events and such, …

A Kraft challenge

Hi everyone!! I thought today’s color challenge on SCS  (kraft, white, and mellow moss) sounded like an interesting combination.  I decided to give it a whirl!   Here’s the holiday card I came up with. I stamped the snowflakes in Versamark ink and heat embossed them with white embossing powder directly on the dp.  I really like how this turned out! The sentiment is embossed as well.  The paper is from Basic Grey Archaic, and of course the kraft is from my SU! stash. I was sick with a head cold the last couple of days, but I felt much better today…that is until I had to help my son with what ended up being an hour and a half of homework!!! He’s only in grade 3 for crying out loud!! Sheeesh!! Well, I am in need of some crafting therapy so I’m off to make more cards! Have a creative day!!

Falling Sage Leaves

It’s time for a Crafty Creations challenge!  This week the challenge is hosted by Shelly, and she has asked us to create something with Autumn/leaves in mind.  I’m sure you’ll have no problem making projects with leaves at this time of year!! I hope you’ll join us!   PAPER BLOOMS is our sponsor this week so you won’t want to miss it! For my card I’ve included two other challenges, being inspired by both!  The color challenge at SCS today asked for pretty in pink, sage shadow and going gray.  The Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge asked us to “go outside of the frame”!   This is what I came up with tonight when I finally had some time to stamp. I had fun making the background for this! The frame is cut with Labels One Nesties and popped up on dimensional foam adhesive.  I’ve cut the stamped leaves from pink card stock and positioned them so that they seem to be coming out of the frame.  What do you think of the  background?  I stamped it …

Fall with a Flourish!

It’s time again for FLOURISHES  Timeless Tuesday Challenge FTTC34 !!   Today I’ve combined it with the color challenge from Splitcoaststampers.  We were to use Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry, and Black. I recently received the lovely new releases from Flourishes, including this set “Falling Leaves”.  I used a stamp misting technique which gives a nice watercolor effect when you stamp the image.  Unfortunately,  it did not work so well here with the open (line art) stamps.  You can see the effect subtly with the bottom corner leaves stamped directly on the Basic Grey dp. I do love how the colors turned out!  I really didn’t think i would, at first.  But here they are and I thought they worked so well for an Autumn themed card!  It’s not a complicated card by any means, you know me, I like to keep things simple!  I stamped the leaf on my Crushed Curry oval cut out, in Rich Razzleberry, and another that I cut out and popped up on adhesive foam.  I inked the edges of the …

Mix It Up With Pink Suede

Hi everyone!! I’m so excited to tell you that my  black and white Flourishes card from a previous POST was published in the new Paper Maniac Tuesday Tidings Newsletter!   And ohmygosh!! As I’m writing this post I just went over to their challenge site to link it up here and I have found that I am  the random pick winner of their first ever challenge!!!  Wow!!  Hmmm….Maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket… If you haven’t been to Paper Maniac’s fabulous new online shop you have to have a look!  I was really impressed with the variety of stamps and paper lines they carry. I made today’s card for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge FTTC33 which this week is to MIX IT UP!  I also used the colors for the CC at Splitcoaststampers which are whisper white, soft suede and pretty in pink. I mixed things up by using the argyle embossing folder for texture and pairing it up with this Basic Grey Sugared dp.  I also colored outside of the lines for this …
