Mother’s Day Challenge

It’s a Mother’s Day challenge theme at Crafty Creations this week.  We hope you’ll come and join us! San’s Designs is our sponsor and I’ve used her Strawberry Cake image on this digi hybrid card I made. The image is colored with copics and I’ve added my favourite crinkled seam binding for bows in the corners of the banner and across the bottom of the card.  The background papers are from a digital kit by Jady Day Studio at the Sweet Shoppe. Have a look at what the rest of the DT made using San’s great images HERE. Thanks for stopping by!  Deena

Mother’s Day

I had fun pleating the accent flower for this Mother’s Day card. It reminded me of when we used to make these at school for something to do at lunch hour.  Peggy (the Nutty Cardmaker) and I were shopping at the local SBS when we saw these trendy little things for sale.  I just couldn’t bring myself to buy them though, knowing that I could (fairly) easily make them! lol  I did find it to be a little tedious because to get a nice tight pleat it has to be folded accordion style with the folds only 3mm apart.   The paper is cut to 3/4″ wide and is 8 inches long,  folded as I’ve said at every 1/8 of an inch (3mm) .   I do love the finished look, though I just can’t see myself making a bunch of these.  I guess my lunch hours are not quite as dull anymore! 😉 Have any of you tried making these recently?  What do you think? Thanks for stopping by, and have a creative day! Deena

Mother’s Day

It’s time for this week’s Crafty Creations Challenge and we are to make Mother’s Day cards!  Getting organized ahead of time is always a good thing isn’t it? Our sponsor this week is The Stamping Boutique!  I am using one of their lovely images for my card today, and I’ve colored it with Copics.  I used a base of gray cardstock and light yellow textured cardstock. The sentiment is French for “Happy Mother’s day”.  I am making a few French sentiment cards for sale in my my Etsy shop. Thanks for stopping by!  Have a creative day! Deena

Color Me Beautiful

I had fun with the color challenge on SCS! The colors were lilac, coral and green, yes, challenging, but I kind of like it! I used my Cricut to cut the flower layers and the sentiment from the Home Decor cartridge. The papers are from Crate; the Samantha and Blue Hill collection. I had not used them in some time and I was happy to find them and pull them out.  I used a  Martha Stewart lattice punch for the border. Lots of flowers for this challenge: Creative Card Crew – April showers bring May flowers Have a great day and have fun crafting! Deena

Mother’s Bouquet

I’ve combined the colors from this week’s COLOR THROWDOWN with FLOURISHES twinchies challenge.  Ever hear of a twinchie?  It’s a 2″ x 2″ piece of mini art that should be the focus of your card.  This mini version of Flourishes gorgeous Gerbera Daisies is the stamp I chose to use simply as my focus for this Mother’s Day card.  I colored them with copics in four shades of pink and two shades of green. These are the lovely colors for this week’s color throwdown.  I didn’t have to go far to find them. My 6″ x6″ pad of Sultry Basic Grey papers were calling me! Papers:  pink and basic gray cardstock (SU!) Stamps: Flourishes Gerbera Daisies, Stampin’ Up! All Holidays sentiment Ink: memento tuxedo black Accessories: copics: R01, R11, R20, V01,YG93,G94, Stampin’ Up! basic gray ribbon, dimensional foam I’m so glad you stopped by, enjoy a creative day! A Chipboard Frame Tutorial

Hello everyone,  I have a tutorial today!  I made this small chipboard coaster frame and thought I’d share how easy it is to make for yourself!  It would be a great gift for Mom too, just make it in her favorite colors and add a small photo of her Grandkids. MATERIALS NEEDED: Chipboard coaster or square 4″ X 4″ Decorative paper 4″ x 4″ Coordinating solid color decorative paper 2.5″ x 2.5″ Coordinating decorative paper 2.25″ x 2.25″ Neutral color (white is good) for the photo background 2.25″x2.25″ Clear acetate 2.25″ x 2.25″ Square Punch 1.25″ red line tape or strong adhesive file or sand paper hardware picture hanger and eyelet Ribbon or embellishments 1. Adhere 4 x4 paper to the 4 x4″  chipboard coaster. If you are using chipboard cut to size, then round your corners too. File the edges lightly all around. Mom’s Love Notes

Hi everyone!  I hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend!!  I enjoyed time with my family, and the looks on my boys and niece’s  faces as they hunted for their Easter treats!   They had so much fun. Now we need to look ahead a bit to the next holiday, so we can be ready for it. Yes, Mother’s Day is right around the corner folks! We need to get our Moms something special and we can’t forget the cards! I don’t have a card made yet, but I did make these 2.5″ x 3″  love notes, that made me think of my Mom… There is something so sweet about a little note, and I’m sure I remember my Mom leaving one or two around for me to find when I was a teen.  Maybe it was the only way to communicate with a me, since I was always off and running, leading my busy teen life!  But I enjoyed getting those notes and I enjoy leaving them too.  Do you have someone who might …
