A Little Inspiration and New Release Images

Hello! This month is off to a busy start  for me, what with the boys back at school, and all the running around and organizing that entails. Then, there’s the fact that I have not just ONE, but TWO weddings to attend in September!  Starting with my niece’s wedding this weekend, and ending with my Mother’s wedding on September 28th!  Needless to say, I had to go dress shopping this past weekend and after several frustrating hours, I finally found one I liked and fit!! Phew. Dress shopping is not as much fun as it used to be when I was 20 something… I find it so exhausting now.  Every time I try something new on, and look in that all too narrow mirror in the changing room, I am reminded that I really should start exercising!!  Not fun.  I hate exercising even more than shopping.  Anyways, I digress… What I really want to tell you is that I had the honor of making my Mother’s wedding invitations!  She told me exactly what she wanted, …

Happy Valentine’s Day!

“You do not know how much they mean to me, my friends, and how, how rare and strange it is, to find in a life composed so much of odds and ends… to find a friend who has these qualities, who has, and gives those qualities upon which friendship lives. How much it means that I say this to you -without these friendships – life, what cauchemar!” ~ T.S Eliot DOWNLOAD  my new image FREE  for 24 hours.  Share the love. SORRY FREEBIE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE  This image will be available soon at Squigglefly!  “There’s no vocabulary For love within a family, love that’s lived in But not looked at, love within the light of which All else is seen, the love within which All other love finds speech. This love is silent.” ~ T.S Eliot

This Puppy is All Heart!

I just love looking into this puppy’s eyes!  We had a dog that could just tug at my heart with one look!  Does your dog do the same thing?  I’ll bet he does!   He’s my most recent sketch appropriately called ‘PUPPY LOVE’. I colored him with copics (E31 E33, E39,W3,C7)  The papers are from the ECHO PARK Yours Truly 6 x 6″ paper pad.  I kept it simple and just added a little silver heart brad. I am entering this in a few challenges: Simon Says Stamp: animal antics! Forever Friends: use an animal (valentine) Moving along with the Times: have a heart Party Time Tuesdays: anything goes Fab n’ Funky: use a digi I hope you have a creative day and thanks for stopping by to say hello!  Deena xx

Masculine Valentine

Masculine Valentines are always a bit tricky I think.   I hope I pulled it off with this! Yes it has ribbons, but I don’t think it’s too frilly and I like the look of the newsprint with the hearts.  I stamped a sheet of newsprint  using an Impression Obsession Cover – a – Card background stamp. Then, I stamped the hearts and love sentiment (Daisy and Dandelion clear stamps- Candyfloss and Marshmallow stamps).  I punched them  using a 1 1/4″ square punch.  The strip of white card stock is embossed with the Sizzix notes die using the cuttlebug.  The base card is Stampin’ Up! Basic Gray card stock and I used grey and satin red Stampin’ Up! ribbon for embellishment. Thanks for stopping by!  You know I enjoy your company! I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day! Deena

First Crush Valentine

Have I mentioned yet that I love my new Cricut??  Well I do!!  I think I could play with “A Child’s Year” cartridge for a year and not get tired of it.  It is an amazing shapes cartridge that has so many creative features, including a full set of shadow images, icons, tags, cards,a font and Monograms!  I was literally oohing and ahhing over this cartridge when I received it!! There are so many creative possibilities with this cartridge.  If you own a Cricut and were hesitating over this cartridge, I strongly suggest you go for it! Here’s a simple Valentine I made with it today for the Polkadoodle challenge and the Twisted Sisters Challenge on SCS. We were to make non traditional colored Valentines, so NO red and NO pink!  Also for One stop Craft Challenge: Love and Kisses, and Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge: Hearts! Cocoa and Chocolate colored card stocks are from Bazzil, and the ribbon is American Crafts. The heart is layered with Nook & Pantry Basic Grey designer paper. Thanks …

My 4 Ever Friend

My friend Peggy came over on Friday morning so we could take a visit to my local scrapbook store that was having a sale.  🙂 She  brought over some healthy homemade chili that we enjoyed for lunch.   YUMMY!  If you would like the recipe, you’ll find it at  SOS Cuisine.   I think the only change she made was to use mixed beans instead of just red beans.  If you like your chili **spicy** I would suggest increasing the minced chili peppers or using 2-3 tbsp of chili powder per lb of beef.  The beef is extra lean to keep it healthy, and don’t forget to drain the beef after browning it; that helps too! I think chili gets a bad rep for being a fatty dish, but if you take into account the health benefits you get from the beans and vegetables and keep to the extra lean beef or ground turkey, then it really isn’t bad at all!  At 380 cal per serving and a whopping 10grams of fibre,  not to mention how yummy …
