Meeting For Drinks In The City

Yup, those are my kind of drinks! This week’s Crafty Creations challenge is to make our own background paper!  FUN!!  I decided to make a brick wall bg for this uptown girl, for an urban chic look.  I stamped the brick wall (Prima stamps) four times to fill my 4″ x 4″ square on glossy paper.  When the ink was dry, I sanded it vertically, then horizontally until there was no shine left.  It gives it a cool texture!  I sponged on some soft blue ink in various spots for some added depth, and sanded again both ways. The stamp is from the Stamping Boutique and they are generously sponsoring us this week!  Have a look at the challenge blog for some fab ideas on making your own backgrounds! Hope you’ll join us!! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Falling Sage Leaves

It’s time for a Crafty Creations challenge!  This week the challenge is hosted by Shelly, and she has asked us to create something with Autumn/leaves in mind.  I’m sure you’ll have no problem making projects with leaves at this time of year!! I hope you’ll join us!   PAPER BLOOMS is our sponsor this week so you won’t want to miss it! For my card I’ve included two other challenges, being inspired by both!  The color challenge at SCS today asked for pretty in pink, sage shadow and going gray.  The Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge asked us to “go outside of the frame”!   This is what I came up with tonight when I finally had some time to stamp. I had fun making the background for this! The frame is cut with Labels One Nesties and popped up on dimensional foam adhesive.  I’ve cut the stamped leaves from pink card stock and positioned them so that they seem to be coming out of the frame.  What do you think of the  background?  I stamped it …

DIY Paper Little Yellow Birds

Happy Saturday!! I made this clean and simple card the other day while stamping with my friend Peggy.  She had the idea that we should stamp our own paper and I love doing that.  So this is what resulted.  I kept the card very simple because I really love how the paper turned out, with those cute little birds!  What do think?  Does it need more embellishing or layers?  I sometimes think I keep my cards too simple. Paper: DIY stamped on whisper white, kraft Stampin’ Up! Ink: Tim Holtz broken china, SU! summer sun, basic black Stamps: Bird on a branch, Spring Solitude, Fresh Cuts (sentiment) all Stampin’ Up! Accessories: So Saffron Ribbon, mini brads, prismacolor pencils I kept forgetting to tell you all how much fun I had for my belated birthday celebration last Saturday!!  My best friend took me out for the day, we went strolling and shopping in a quaint village along the Lakeshore, which included a visit to a great scrapbook shop, after having a lovely brunch.  Then out for …

Piece Of Cake!

Hi everyone!! Our Crafty Creations Challenge this week is a lovely sketch by Jaime.   I combined my DT challenge card this week with the Timeless Tuesdays Flourishes Challenge which is to use  buttons on our cards. I’m going to have a fun day because I’m stamping with my friend Peggy!!  So I have to keep this short .  Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

More is More…bling it!

It’s another week of SBS18 Challenges, and this week’s theme, set by Donna, is Bling it On! I combined this challenge with Splitcoaststamper’s Fan Club theme which was also to bling it, as well as this week’s sketch challenge.   One of the dirty dozen’s challenges is to take any project and make a simple version, (less is more) and an all out version (more is more).  That is what I have done here with my Happy Everything card. The left side white panel is stamped using Spring Solitude by Stampin’ Up!.  I love this set!  The right side panel is Berry Bliss dp.  I added the prima flowers, gem brads, and mini brads to bling it on! The sentiment sets are both from SU, basically the same, in French and English. Stamps: Spring Solitude SU, Happy Everything, Paper: Pink Pirouette SU, Berry Bliss SU, whisper White, Basic Black Ink: Basic Black Accessories: primas, gems, gem brads Techniques: two step stamping Hope you enjoyed the bling today!  Thanks for stopping by, I love hearing from …

Clip Art coupled with DIY DP!

The SBS18 theme for this week’s challenge is COUPLES. Here’s what I came up with. I quickly realized that I do not have any couples stamps! How sad is that?? The closest thing I could find in my stamp stash is the All in the family set. But stick people romance was not what I was looking for! So, I decided to try the ever growing in popularity…clip art for my main image. This is a first for me. Because I did not stamp the main image i felt compelled to create my own background paper, so that I did stamp something! I was inspired by Cosmo Cricket’s Fleuriste paper and used Rose Red to to stamp the weave background on cream cs, then sponged it with Elegant Eggplant and Ruby Red. I then stamped the flourishes and the sentiment in Elegant Eggplant. I think Romeo and Juliet were the first couple to ever capture my romantic imagination, so I thought they were perfect for a couples theme. I also used monochromatic tones for this, …
