It is Celebration Time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenges!    The week of February 2-8, 2010 marks Flourishes Timeless Tuesday’s ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY! I was absolutely thrilled to be invited to join in their celebrations by making sample cards for the Design Team challenges!!! There will be lots of amazing prizes at the Flourishes blog! Here’s my second sample card, this one is  for Silke’s “think pink” challenge (FTTC52D)! Please check out the Flourishes Anniversary Celebration post to find out how to play along! I thought right away of the “Think Pink” set for this challenge, and as I need more breast cancer awareness cards it was perfect! I stamped the dress in Versamark on glossy paper and embossed it with Super Fine detail embossing powder (Ranger).   I sponged over it with Pretty in Pink …

Silver Embossed Tags/Tree Ornaments

I made these silver embossed tags tonight and I was originally thinking they would be pretty paper ornaments, but then realized they would be great as tags too.  So maybe I will use them for both. I embossed the Unity bird, and Flourishes sentiment stamp in silver embossing powder.  I also added a little dazzling diamond glitter to the bird for some extra sparkle, tied a sheer purple ribbon and silver cord to the top with an eyelet setting.  The die cut shape is Nestabilities Labels Four. I’ve entered this in the Simon Says “Merry Christmas” challenge where all they wanted us to do was say “Merry Christmas” in some way. 🙂 My friend Rosana whom I’ve met blogging, has asked if I could share some info with you all. This is an appeal to all CAT LOVERS! http://adoteumgatinho.uol.com.br/ Adote um Gatinho (meaning Adopt a Kitten) is a foundation that rescues cats and prepare them for adoption. They have been nominated for a prize and if they receive enough votes by December 28th they will …

Wintry White Holiday

This is a card I made casing Pam124, the Featured Stamper today on SCS. I kept the same basic layout and used the same stamp set, but changed the sentiment, the colors and added snow by embossing in three different ways (Thanks Mel!! ) You can see Pam’s card HERE. Please see Mel’s fabulous post on how to create snow by embossing three different ways HERE.  How fun! And much easier than I thought it might be. I used River Rock card stock and stamped my image in Memento rich cocoa.  I used a white pencil crayon to add in some snowy highlights on the branches and trunk.  Then, I added more white around the base of the tree before stamping the Cornish Heritage Farms backgrounder stamp (Twinkle Twinkle) in white pigment ink and embossing in white embossing powder.   As in MEL’s tutorial, I used a souffle pen to add more “snow” around the trunk and across the top of the landscape, sprinkling on ep and heat embossing.   The final step was to sprinkle embossing …

A Winter Wonderland!

Crafty Creations Challenge theme this week is METAL/METALLIC FINISHES.   There are many ways to incorporate metal into a card, be it with embossing in silver or gold, using metal embellishments, using metallic papers or adding  punched metal elements like I’ve done here with my snowflakes.  They are punched from a metal craft sheet.  The blossom circle background  is a silver card stock from the Metallic Stack by DCWV. The image is “She Dreams”  from DOODLES BY HOPE JACARE.  Claire will be sponsoring us this week with her very own digital image giveaway!!   She has a beautiful assortment of images in her shop and if you play along in our challenge this week, you might get to choose one along with a few other surprises! I’ve also entered this card in the Pink Persimmon Sketch challenge this week, using their fabulous sketch! Lexi’s Creations is having their first challenge ever and  wanted to see our blue an silver Christmas cards! Here’s a second card I’ve made with the theme as well. I made this card …

A Kraft challenge

Hi everyone!! I thought today’s color challenge on SCS  (kraft, white, and mellow moss) sounded like an interesting combination.  I decided to give it a whirl!   Here’s the holiday card I came up with. I stamped the snowflakes in Versamark ink and heat embossed them with white embossing powder directly on the dp.  I really like how this turned out! The sentiment is embossed as well.  The paper is from Basic Grey Archaic, and of course the kraft is from my SU! stash. I was sick with a head cold the last couple of days, but I felt much better today…that is until I had to help my son with what ended up being an hour and a half of homework!!! He’s only in grade 3 for crying out loud!! Sheeesh!! Well, I am in need of some crafting therapy so I’m off to make more cards! Have a creative day!!

Golden Dawn

Dawn Lusk (Dawn… a New Day). is the Featured Stamper on SCS this week!!  I love her style and had to play, so I cased this beatiful card here: Birthday Wishes. I changed the colors and the papers, used a different floral stamp and embossed it in white instead of stamping in black.   I also used a wide ribbon and added a white mat layer to set off the yellow.   I am really pleased with how this card turned out and I will be making a few in different colors for sure! Papers: Stampin’ UP! Delicate Dots dp, whisper white cs, Bazzill yellow cs Stamps: Flourishes Spring Ephemerals Ink: Versamark Accessories: So saffron ribbon (Stampin’ Up! ) white embossing powder Thanks for stopping by today!!

Baby Season

It must be baby season! I know 3 women having babies in the next two weeks!  I spent Sunday afternoon at a baby shower for a friend who is due in two weeks and there were 4 other pregnant women there too, and one whom had recently had her baby!   Today, I was asked to make a baby card for a woman my husband works with, and I had to make it for tomorrow; she is going on maternity leave because she is due in two weeks! Yikes.  I enjoy thinking back to when I was pregnant, but I certainly don’t wish I was pregnant again! lol.   I am quite happy (and plenty busy) with my two boys!  But it is lovely to see the happy Mom’s to be! Both cards are made with Crate Paper Baby Bee collection. For the first card, I punched the squares with my Stampin’ Up! Scallop square punch, and embossed the Studio G clear stamps in white.   I added buttons tied with embroidery floss, and glued on …

A Scene: Brayering, Sponging and Masking

Making this was such a therapeutic process!  I really “got into it” if you know what I mean.  I used resist embossing, brayered ink, sponging and masking to create the scene. I made this for our Twisted Sistah challenge a week and a half ago.  I really enjoy making scenes, but I haven’t done very many.  I need to practice!! Here are the main steps of how I made this one. I loaded the bird image stamp first in versamark ink, then in jet black Archival ink, stamped it and clear embossed it. I colored it in using a blender pen and watercolor wonder crayons. I repeated the same process with the birdhouse and smaller bird in the top corner.  I first had a look at where the tree limb would hang, to figure out how I would place these, so they would look like they were on the branch and not in midair somewhere.  Once they were colored, I used my versamarker to fill in the  colored areas and clear embossed them too. Now …
