Simply Paper Pieced

I love it when a card comes together like it was nothin‘! I made this simple paper pieced vase using two Unity stamps. I stamped the flower first on the white card stock,  then the vase on the dp (My Mind’s Eye Lime twist). I used Jilly bean soup blossom soup dp for the background panel…you need to look closely to see that it’s not the same as the vase dp!   The die cut layer was cut using the Graphically Speaking cartridge in my Cricut expression.  The center of the flower and the outline of the oval  is lightly inked with mint blue Copic  B01.  I stamped the Flourishes (taglines) sentiment and voila! I’d like to mention that this card was inspired by Limedoodle’s beautiful CAS cards!  I didn’t  case any particular card, but I spent some time perusing her blog and was surely inspired! I’m playing in a few challenges: fun with shapes and more: what you want Joyful Stamper: Inspire me Fridays anything goes So glad you had a moment to spend …

Photo Inspiration Challenge

Hi everyone! This week at Crafty Creations Bernie has chosen a lovely photo to inspire our designs.   Stop by to see how it might inspire yours, and join us! I paper pieced this dress form from Unity stamps, using some pink and green daisy d’s papers.  I also added some color using my copics.  Then I finished it off with three threaded buttons.  Clean and simple! Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day! Deena

Baby Elephant

Here’s my Crafty Creations challenge card. I’ve paper pieced the baby elephant from Basic Grey dp. Yes, I’m a day late but better late than never right?  The challenge is paper piecing and Sew Many Cards is our sponsor this week! I hope you’re ready to cut and paste for this challenge! I’ve used the sketch from SCS this week for my card. What a fun sketch today!  I stamped the border with little hearts from Hot Off the Press stamps and paper pieced the elephant. (HOTP small elephant)  The papers are Basic Grey and My Mind’s Eye scraps I had laying around my desk.  That’s what I love about this sketch; I get to use up some scraps!  I’ve added a tiny Tim Holtz safety pin to the corner…love it!!   I will need a few baby cards as I have two nieces having theirs in the next couple of months…something to look forward to! Have a creative day everyone!

Puppy Love Christmas

Teri, crafty creator of Delicious Doodles is our new sponsor for this week’s Crafty Creations challenge.  The challenge this week is to make a  CHRISTMAS FOR MY PET creation.  Teri gave us some adorable digi images to use for our DT creations and the team was inspired! Go have a peek at what the other girls did with these images over on CRAFTY CREATIONS and join in the challenge too! I added spots to this little pup image and paper pieced the stocking.  I gave him  some fur too by using white flower soft like product (dollar store).  He’s all fuzzy and warm looking now! The papers are Daisy d’s (discontinued Christmas paper).  I printed the image onto white card stock and then on another piece of regular copy paper, I used repositionable glue (Zig 2 Way) on the piece of dp to attach it, and ran it through the printer.  The dp was not a standard size to put through the printer alone.  This worked perfectly, and then I was able to cut out …

Feeling Happy!

Hi everyone!!   I am in a very good mood!! I went over to FLOURISHES blog today to see what they were up to, since they just released three fabulous new sets on Friday.   I was admiring the cards of the recent winners when my heart flipped to see one of my own cards as an honorable mention!!  I am feeling really honored!!   Thanks to everyone at Flourishes!!  I think they know how much I love their stamps, and the respect I have for their fabulous team, since I believe I may have mentioned it once or twice, as well as stalking their site! lol Here’s the card I used the new In Color Bermuda Bay, Creamy Caramel  and whisper white for the card, and stamped the images on Basic Grey dp.  The waterlily and bud at the bottom are cut out and popped up on dimensional foam adhesive.  I used my scallop circle nesties for the half circles ( I wanted a pond like appearance to this card).  Isn’t this a wonderful Waterlily set from …

Baby Season

It must be baby season! I know 3 women having babies in the next two weeks!  I spent Sunday afternoon at a baby shower for a friend who is due in two weeks and there were 4 other pregnant women there too, and one whom had recently had her baby!   Today, I was asked to make a baby card for a woman my husband works with, and I had to make it for tomorrow; she is going on maternity leave because she is due in two weeks! Yikes.  I enjoy thinking back to when I was pregnant, but I certainly don’t wish I was pregnant again! lol.   I am quite happy (and plenty busy) with my two boys!  But it is lovely to see the happy Mom’s to be! Both cards are made with Crate Paper Baby Bee collection. For the first card, I punched the squares with my Stampin’ Up! Scallop square punch, and embossed the Studio G clear stamps in white.   I added buttons tied with embroidery floss, and glued on …

A Bookmark Challenge

Hello everyone! I have been so busy of late that I have not been posting as often, and I am not getting around to comment on all your wonderful work as much as I’d like either!  I’m hoping I’ll find some extra time over the weekend. It was my turn to host this week’s Crafty Creations Challenge and I chose bookmarks as the theme.  I love to read, even though I find little time to do it lately!   I made  two different styles for the dt samples.  Let me know what you think! Oh, and I’m sponsoring the challenge this week too!  Hope to see some of your bookmarks in the challenge!! I paper pieced the chair by stamping it once on the turquoise and gold and cutting out the upholstery pieces, then I stamped it again on the rich brown and cut that one out.  I pieced it together and mounted it on Very Vanilla card stock.  The shape is cut using my new nestabilities die cuts Labels Four.  It’s also embossed around the …

Urban Prairie Thank You!

Colorful isn’t it?  That’s what it’s all about! Color!!  There was a fun challenge on SCS on Tuesday daring us to use Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss and Pixie Pink.  I wasn’t sure if these colors would work for me, but that is what a challenge is all about.  Do you know I’ve only recently started to use brighter colors?  I love color, but I usually go with more muted tones.  This time, I embraced it whole heartedly and made the colors the focus of the piece. What do you think?  Should I use more of these brighter colors? I love bold bright colors when other stampers use them, but I tend to shy away from them.   But, I guess that is what is great about challenges, it really draws you out of your comfort zone and forces you to be a little more adventurous. I stamped this adorable chubby bird from Inkadinkado Birds Galore set on Urban prairie basic Grey dp and cut it out. I popped him up on 3D dots just above …

Altered Canvas Wall Decoration

What a rainy dark day here! Yuck. I don’t mind rainy days, but the lack of light drags me down!  So I thought I’d focus on something light and airy like today’s altered canvas that I want to show you all! I made this with some inspiration from a friend who was over the other day.  She brought over some molding paste and canvas, and off we went!!  What fun this was to do! I think I may have to explore this type of altered art further… I really enjoyed mucking around with the molding paste. The paste went on first, one blob (very precise), and then spread with a credit card across the canvas.  This canvas is 8×8″. Using a foam stamp, I stamped my background pattern, which in this case is a square pattern, randomly into the paste.  It helps if you lightly dampen the stamp first.  The paste is actually a bit too thick in some parts, as i noticed the stamped image is cleaner and sharper in thinner areas. The hard …
