Mini Mushroom Village Card Set

Hello! I’m back from an all too short vacation! But,  I’ve missed you all!! 🙂 I do have an exciting announcement to make… I am now making some of my prints and patterns available on different products at Society6!  I’m super nervous about this but I’ve taken the plunge! My MINI MUSHROOM VILLAGE cards are now available as sets of 3, 5 or 10 at SOCIETY6!  They will be printed and shipped to your door! You can see more of what I have in store at Society6 HERE.  Let me know what you think…I’m being very selective as to what I will make available there so you will not see the same things as in my ACNPrintable Art Etsy shop.  Let me know if you are looking for a particular pattern or image for a product and I’ll see what I can do.   Thank you!  Your feedback, comments and support are so very much appreciated.

Watercolour Illustrtation~Mini Mushroom Village

I’m so excited to share this illustration today! This creative piece just makes me happy! It just puts a smile on my face!  I really enjoyed the process of creating it, and now it holds a special place in my heart. This digital watercolour was inspired by Danielle Donaldson‘s workshop CREATIVE GIRL: LAND OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS .  Danielle works with traditional media, and creates her beautiful art in pencil, watercolour, acrylics and papers. I have been practising my digital painting techniques and was really excited about creating a ‘mixed media’ piece in a completely digital format. I approach a digital piece much the same as I do a traditional piece.  I start with a white canvas and build my paint up in layers. Here are a few photos of my process… I painted in watercolours for the background with different brush work, and then sketched in my mushroom houses in pencil.  I painted with more watercolours and white acrylic on the next two layers… …finishing my illustration with pen and white liquid ink. (All Digital) …

Flourishes Sweet Strawberries

I’ve made this card for Steve and Donna; friends of my MIL who have been so wonderful in helping her, my SIL and our family in every way possible since my MIL was diagnosed with terminal cancer.  They have always been very good friends to my MIL, but they just went above and beyond if you know what I mean!  I made this on Wednesday after seeing the FTTC69 (one layer card),and was going to drop it in the mail for them today. Sadly, I am up at 5:30 am, writing this post because we got the phone call in the night that my sweet Mother In Law has passed on. I could not go back to sleep of course, so I am up trying to clear my head (and keep busy at the same time…is that possible?) before my boys wake up.  My husband, Des, has managed to get back to sleep (I hope).  We will have to make plans to go to New Brunswick, but we have no details yet.  When and how …

Sand and Sea a Crafty Challenge!

Hello and happy Wednesday! You know what Wednesdays bring…a new CRAFTY CREATIONS CHALLENGE!   This week’s theme is SAND and SEA set by our lovely design team member SASKIA. It’s not quite summer around here yet, in fact it hasn’t even really started feeling like Spring!!  BUT today is nice and sunny and a BIT warmer.   So I will take inspiration from that and hope it continues!! I’ve used my favorite beach scene stamp for this one…I adore this little boy, because he reminds me of mine! I started by embossing the Bazzil blue card stock with my cuttlebug D’Vine Swirls folder. The image is stamped in black on Very Vanilla card stock. I colored it in with a blender pen (Stampin’ Up! ) and my Stampin’ Up! dyes right out of the flip top. I used So Saffron, Close to Cocoa, Blue Bayou, and Chocolate Chip. I SPONGED on So Saffron and Close to Cocoa around the edges and image.  The die cut shapes are my nestabilities Labels 1.  The panel under the image is …

A Dreamer

This fairy image makes me think of when I was a child. There was a field behind my house where my friend and I would spend time playing and dreaming that we were fairies fluttering through the knee deep grass.  Or pretending that we had found our very own  fairy kingdom.   In those moments I really believed in the magical kingdom of fairies.  What fun it is was to immerse myself  in those fantasies!    It has been a while since I’ve believed in fairies, but what I do still believe in, is the magic that comes from simply letting yourself  dream.  Believing in the possibility of something, is often enough. Sweet dreams, my friends!

A Spring Promise

I wish I could make such a promise!  It has been sooooo cold around here this last week!!  How does -30 degrees celcius sound??   Our hydro company actually issued a warning that we bundle up in our homes and REDUCE our thermostats.  WHY?  Because they said it was so cold that high consumption of electricity may cause a shortage and that would mean no one would have any heat!! WHAT???  Why do I live here anyway?  I really should have been born somewhere tropical.  I would have made a great island girl.  hehehe!!  Yes, technically Montreal is an island, just not the kind I’m talking about! These colors say spring to me, they even say tropical.  So take a  good look and then close your eyes,  that’s as close to spring as I can get you right now.  🙂 I received my  set of Flourishes stamps (that I won) on Thursday! Yeah!!  Happy mail! I had to use it right away and decided to play along with the WT challenge on Splitcoast too.   I went …

An Apple for the Teacher

Hi all!  This is the back to school card I made for my son. I used Paper Pretties stamps; Look out world and  Off to School for the sentiment.  Isn’t Cooper cute, swinging his little lunchbox?  I think he’s so fun!  I matted the image with Kiwi Kiss and Red Riding Hood Stampin’ Up! card stock.  The dp is Stampin’ Up! Summer picnic.  I doubled up the ribbon, using old olive from SU and a striped red (unknown) from my stash. I’m keeping this short and sweet, because I’ve been tired from getting up earlier since school started.  I’m not used to it, and have i mentioned, I’m NOT a morning person?! Thanks for stopping by!

Buttons and Bunny Slippers!

O.k I don’t own any bunny slippers…but I wouldn’t be opposed to wearing them when I’m feeling sick!  🙂 Bunnies can cheer just about anyone up! I made this little 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 square card for a triple challenge!  I used Friday Sketchers sketch#12 , incorporated the color challenge from SCS, and finally the inspiration for the card in the first place…Paper Pretties weekly challenge! Their challenge was to use buttons, as many as we wanted to. Isn’t she cute?  This is Sophie from Paper Pretties!  She is so fun to colour and I decided to cut her out for this, since it suited the sketch.  I tied the buttons with a little thread too, I think it adds just the right touch. Stamps: Paper Pretties Bunny Slippers Paper: Afternoon tea SU, Groovy Guava, Sahara Sand substituted with DCWV cs Ink: Basic Black, Going Gray Accessories: buttons, thread, circle scallop punch, Neocolor II watersolouble crayons, blender brush So glad you stopped in!  Hope you are inspired by something you see here! 🙂 Have …

Vellum~ Part II

O.k, let’s just pretend that it’s still Wednesday, and that I am not a day late posting this!! 🙂 I know, I know, but I had a VERY busy day and night and just could not find the time…sorry! Did you ever try embossing vellum? I love the look of it! For the panel of my card I embossed the vellum with my cuttlebug using the Stylized flowers folder.  But what I really wanted to show you is how I applied some color to it. Once the paper was embossed and cut to the size I wanted for my card, I flipped it over and water colored the reverse side.  It looks kinda bright on this side, but have a look at it again when it’s flipped back around.  I love the soft effect of it! I used water color crayons and applied it directly to the vellum around the edges of the debossed areas I wanted colored.  Then I blended from the outer edges, inward with my blender pen.  I think the blender pen …

Playing with Vellum (Part 1)

Hello everyone!  SCS is having their Dare to Get Dirty 2008 Challenge this week and  I’m having a blast playing! Monday’s challenges: Laurie dared us to use vellum, and Jody dared us to use ribbon as our main inspiration, and to set the theme, and/or colors for a card!  FUN! Here’s what I did for these challenges Click to See the bigger picture:) For the card above, I used a translucent vellum, stamped and clear embossed my Spring Ephemeral stamp, then used the baby wipe and re-inker technique to swirl on the color.  I loved this technique! It’s easy! If you’ve never tried it, I’ve explained how below.  Give it a whirl! Or a swirl, dab or pounce! 🙂 WHAT YOU NEED: Baby wipe re-inkers (stampin’ up re-inkers come in all the colors of their ink pads) WHAT YOU DO: Fold in the four sides to create a smaller square.  Drop 2-3 drops of  at least 2 different colors onto the square.  Gather up the corners to make a handle for yourself and dab, swirl, …
