An Honest to Goodness Award

I’ve been given this “honest scrap” award from Alina.   According to the rules of  receiving this award, I am to tell you  10 things about myself, and pass it on. These are a few things you may not have known about me… My family always comes first. I fell in love with my husband 17 years ago, and we’ve been married for 12 yrs. I love him more today. I like to stay up very late, and sleep in very late! I need my coffee. I get emotional when I see a beautiful dance or art performance. I am too serious by times,  and my boys remind me to lighten up! I hate it when people make and look for trouble where there is none. I like to keep things simple, and honest. I enjoy quiet moments and I need some time alone every day. …and now I would like to pass this award on to Ali Ann V. Claire (Hope Jacare) Jaime Jennifer Mandy Peata Saskia Shelly Stacy Thank you Alina, for this award!! …

Look at this sweet award that my friend Alina gave me!!  Isn’t it cute? And I’m honored to be considered on her top ten!! Thanks so much Alina! I would like to pass these on to Els, Vanessa, Denise, Janine, Tabitha, Jaime, Kes (Kerry), Clo,  Dawn B., Julie Thanks so much to all of you for your inspiration! I received this award a little while ago from Betty Wright!  Thanks so much Betty, it  means so much to me! It’s called the Inspired Blog Award.  Isn’t it colorful and fun?   She passed it on to me because she said she was inspired by my coloring skills! Wow. Have a creative day everyone!!

Charmed I’m Sure!

Our second SBS18 ATC (Artist Trading Card) swap was the theme “Charmed I’m Sure”.  We were to use at least two charms on our ATCs. I used these two little pewter charms as accents against a silhouette stamped background. I started with a lilac coloured textured cardstock and to get those random lines across it, I smooshed my ink pad on a piece of acetate, then swiped the cardstock over it.  The raised textured parts picked up the ink and gave it this streaked grid background.  I then stamped my Pocket Silhuettes stamp  twice before reinking it to get the “ghost” silhouettes and the darker silhouettes.  This was then mounted on a green Asian print background.  I really like the soft colours and how the bg turned out.  I might have to experiment with this background technique, with different cardstock textures, to see how they pick up the ink.  Maybe different ink surfaces too… hmmm.   Let me know what you think! 🙂 I wanted to thank Els, and Steph for this amazing blog award too! …

Isn’t this a sweet blog award?  I think so.  It  feels so good to be told that someone likes what you’ve worked so hard on!   I love making things and sharing them with everyone, and that’s why I started this blog.   I saw a wonderful community of people sharing their ideas with one another and learning from each other and most importantly encouraging each other, and I just had to be part of that creative spirit! Discovering Wylde Women!

I am thrilled to get this award!  Let me tell you why… It’s not really the “award” itself, although when I saw it I was definitely intrigued by it’s unique character.  Intrigued enough to follow the trail back to it’s creator Tammy Vitale.  Let me tell you that it was a pure delight to “meet” this woman!!  Yes, in a way I do feel as though I have met her, by reading her blog, her thoughts of the day, and discovering her art, which I always feel is extremely revealing of the artist!   I think this award has already exceeded her expectations (she intended on viewing EVERY blog it was awarded to) and  through it she has discovered many wonderful sites and has listed links to many!  This is what really excites me! The discovery of these many wonderful artful/crafty/inspirational, women and all the many forms that their art take!   Many of which are paper crafters/scrapbookers and mixed media artists! The first blog you really should pay a visit to is Alina’s, who was sweet …
