I have a confession to make…I have a hard time letting go, loosening up, relaxing my control over things.  I don’t need to be in control of everything,  in fact I often like to give up control to others simply so I won’t have to folow my own rigid rules! But the things that I am in control of usually need to follow my self appointed rules and regulations.  I put a lot of pressure on myself. I often place unreasonable expectations and unnecessary limitations on how I do things. Unfortunately, it can be paralyzing.  I am working on it. Really. So, with my art work, I have held myself back in many ways because of this mysterious  list of ‘rules’ that I’ve created.  Anyone else feel like this?  Where did all these rules come from?  They have accumulated as my life has moved along, and I didn’t realize how demanding they had become. Here we are already more than halfway through the month of February, and time for some more inspiration from the ACN team! GAIL is sharing this stunning pop up card! What a wonderful background she has created here for these ACN WOLVES.   KREN has created a magical look with her wintry background in hues of purple and greens while adding the fibers as a textural element.   …and I paint spattered my  background.  Inspired by the Snow wolves of the Canadian arctic, I went for a wintry white and blue. A Perfect Pair!

What a busy month it’s been!!  I’m sorry I haven’t been a very good blogger lately, but the summer months keep us outdoors and away more often!  My boys are enjoying their summer so far and are looking forward to going to Calypso (a giant waterslide park) soon!  I have been enjoying the sun and getting a little more reading done while outside with my boys.  We have taken a few day trips (the beach, Upper Canada Village, Old Port of Montreal) but have not taken an official “vacation”.  I guess you could say that we have been ‘staycationing’ this year! I will be even busier now, as I was asked by my Mother to make her wedding invitations!  She is getting remarried after 23 years of being a widow.  She is extremely happy and very much in love, and it so good to see her this way after all these lonely years!!  I am so  happy for her and her fiancé, Len!   It will be a smallish family and friends ceremony and dinner, …

Teacher Thank You

My son gave this card to his Grade 6 teacher.  I hope she liked it! I used my My Memories Software program  to create the note and sentiment and added in my VINTAGE SCHOOL BOOKS image, coloring in only the apple. I printed this top layer, punched two holes in it an inch apart and tied the black ribbon in a bow, then mounted it to a black base card.  I used a piece of white  4″ x 5.25″ cardstock for the inside.
