I was inspired by this week’s CAS-ual Friday challenge to make a CAS card using the prompt “THREE THIRDS”. Three Thirds? The idea is to use three of something,OR just 1/3 of the card, and keep it clean and simple. and also the CASology challenge keyword “SPLASH” which made me think of watercoloring! The image is actually a large digital watercolor painting I did 2 days ago, miniaturized here on a blue paint spattered background and with an added “Miss You” sentiment… “MISS YOU” I tried to use only a third of the card and the sentiment is tripled…it’s hard to see the third ‘miss you’ as it fades out… Very Soft and pretty, but hard to capture with my camera!
My sweet friend recently gave me several rolls of Goddess Tape! Lucky me!! I had some time to play today, and made a Spring card. This Decorative Tape is gorgeous! It’s called Turn a New Leaf; I just love the pretty Spring colors and leaf pattern. TIP: To get a nice clean punched edge and not have the tape stick to your punches, 🙂 stick the tape to white cardstock, then punch out your border and shapes.I also made some super simple magnets. All you need is the decorative tape, a magnetic sheet (Elmer’s or Avery) and some paper punches… Hear what others are saying about this card! Hello friends! March is finally here. The sun kindly came out this weekend and just in time for my birthday which I celebrated Sunday! Although it’s still cold, and will be for a little while yet here in Montreal, I am hopeful that Spring is not too far off in our future! To share my hopeful spirit with you, I have another CAS card to show you today. I’ve combined two challenges; CASE STUDY #180 and the Inspiration Challenge on SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS. First up is Danielle Flanders‘ card inspiring us at CASE STUDY this week…SO PRETTY! I chose this photo as my inspiration from the IC430 site POLYVORE : and fell in love with the colors! and here is my card that is a result of being inspired by both challenges… I hope it puts a little hope in your hearts for the forthcoming Spring! Have a wonderful day! Deena
Hello friends! I thought I’d share how this ‘Wild Thing’ CAS card for this month’s A Creative Need challenge was made. I was playing with a masking/paint technique. I masked the moon with a circle punch and painted over it with two shades of yellow, then while still a little wet, stuck clear wide packaging tape over it and peeled it off again to give it a worn look. When dry, I scanned it so I could use it as a digital element, as seen here. Using My Memories Software I simply placed my A Creative Need Wolves image and resized it to the size I wanted, then added in the image of my masked moon and layered it over the wolves. All that was left was to add in my sentiment. So simple, and I’m very happy with the result! Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day!! CAS-ual Fridays’ challenge this week has gone OVER THE EDGE! And I just had to join in! I colored the ACN LOVE BIRDS image with copics and cut them out. I placed the birds on a watercolor background that I painted using Corel Painter Essentials. Then, I punched a simple border for the bottom and added a splash of color with the felt foam flowers and buttons. I also added a tab ribbon in the bottom right for Splitcoaststamper’s challenge ‘tags &tabs’ that I think helped balance out the over the edge look of the birds at the top left. Challenges: CAS-ual Fridays– ‘Over the Edge’ Addicted to CAS– LoVe I’m so glad you stopped by! Deena
I have a guilty conscience…and just have to admit…that I spent an ENORMOUS amount of time perusing LilyBean Paperie’s blog today! Melissa’s cards are so inspiring! I probably should have been doing laundry or sweeping, but I just couldn’t help myself! Although I know I could not make a card that comes close to her beauties, I do take some comfort in knowing that I can take a few elements of her gorgeous style and incorporate them into my CAS style. I loved the look of her ‘Speak love’ CARD and I took the element of key and banner and made a little tag to mount on on this lavender 4 1/4 square card. The CAS challenge at Splitcoaststampers this week is ‘tags & tabs’ which also helped inspire this card. The vintage key was a gift form a fellow blogger and the paper is digital dp that I created using my own Pear Blossom stamp. I paper punched the heart and used a metallic gold paint pen and glitter pen to give it a golden …
I made a CAS card for the CASology challenge this week… the key word was CONTRAST…which inspired me to use contrasting colors (coral and turquoise) to make my image pop. I used only four layered digital elements to create my card starting with airbrushed graffiti in coral. The next layer is watercolor paint spatters in turquoise. Then I placed my Country Heart Chair image and finished with the sentiment. Super simple and I love the painted background, as it makes me think of painting the walls of a new home! I created all the digital background elements I used here with Corel Painter Essentials 4. An old version but fabulous nevertheless. I love digital painting! I can get as creative as I like and use different medias (acrylics, watercolors) and brushes all without the mess! Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day! Deena
