Back To School ~ A New Image

I drew this image yesterday, as back to school is heavy on my mind! My son asked me if it was him?  ” Because I have a backpack just like that!”  🙂 I made this card inspired by a few different challenges tonight; I’ll list those below.   I can’t wait to hear what you think of  my new drawing! I colored him with copics and did my best to do some proper shading since he is a pencil drawing and there’s plenty of indication as to where to shade when coloring.  When I clean up the image digitally, I  try not to take away most of the original sketch lines/shading.  I love the look.  If you have ever colored any Flourishes images you’ll know what I’m talking about, since their images have those extra areas of dark lines that naturally show where the shading belongs. I made this card with my older son in mind, and since he’s 10, I didn’t want it looking to0 ‘kiddy’.  No primary colors, no cute school icons etc.  I …

A Sketch Challenge

Hello!  Sure has been quiet around the web lately…everyone must be trying to get in as much summer as possible before it’s over!  I cannot believe we are already into August!  My boys go back to school on the 30th!!!  I am so sad  about it.  Yup, I’m not tired of them being home every day with me, yet!! 🙂   This summer has been really fabulous and we don’t want it to end! Anyway, onto my card for today.   CRAFTY CREATIONS  is at it again with another fun challenge for us!  This week Donna has given us a sketch to follow and a challenge to make male birthday cards! Delicious Doodles is our sponsor and I’ve used one of their fabulous images called “In the Harbour” for my card. I’ve used papers from the DCWV going green stack.  I love these colors and the texture of the paper gives it so much character I think.  The image is colored with copics  in shades of browns, greys and blues with just a touch of red on …

Squigglefly Monday

Happy Monday everyone!   I hope you are having a good one!   SQUIGGLEFLY always makes Monday’s better with a  fun new challenge!  This week’s challenge is my first as a new DT member and I’m happy to say that I’m one of Marloony’s Marvels!   Heather’s Headliners were up this week with their Good Ole Summertime challenge, and this week Marlene wants us to show our metal, so steel yourselves and show us what you’re made of!    WATCH OUT Heather’s Headliners, Marloony’s Marvels are elbowing their way in!  teehee a little in house rivalry, but all in good fun! I used metal brads on the tires of this cute new image by Diane Carubia called TALLY HO!  I added two more metal brads as accents at the top of the faux ribbon strips.  The image is colored with copics and I’ve used a wonderful sketch for this card from My time made Easy. (Pretty Patterns Sketch #17) Challenges I enjoyed playing in: My time made Easy: sketch Daring Cardmakers: (Suitcase) strapped to the boot of the …

Get Well Soon

A card with some sass today!  It’s my turn to host this week’s Crafty Creations Challenge and it’s a GET WELL theme.  Digi’s With Attitude has graciously given the DT a couple of Grumpy Gretchen naughty nurse images to play with.   I think I’ll keep this one for my husband next time he is feeling a little under the weather! I colored her with copics and made a simple gate fold card.  The get well image on the front is from k i memories, punched out with a 1 1/4″ square punch and matted with blue cardstock  using a square  1 3/8″ paper punch.   I used a brass brad and  hardware to act as a closure. I hope blogger is working  now, as it was acting up when I was trying to post the challenge!  Come have a look at all the DT’s  sassy creations and play along too! Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day!! Deena

Grown With Love

Rustic beauty is the theme Flourishes has brought us with this month’s BBB02 (Bring Back Beautiful challenge).   I think this has a rustic Country charm feel to it, with the distressed seed packet and crochet flowers.   I stamped the seed packet and sentiments on kraft cardstock, then I did a little distressing around the edges and inked it with baja breeze and bermuda bay.   The papers are Crate papers (Samantha collection) that I’ve had for some time…when I like a certain dp, I always buy it in multiples! Thanks for stopping by today!  You know I enjoy your company! 😉 Deena

Easter Celebration

I’ve finally made a card for the Flourishes grand opening celebrations!!  Spring for me, is definitely something to celebrate, as is Easter!   I combined two challenges from Flourishes for this card: FLLCCEL2 (Celebration) and FLLCCEL5 (pink and green). Cricut Cartridges: Easter ltd ed. 2010, Accents and elements Copics: R01, R12, R20, R11, E31, G82, G40, YG93 Paper: Basic Grey Sultry dp, Stampin’ Up card stock in green, pink, and white Accessories: dew drops, May Arts lace ribbon Any questions?
