Flourishes Sweet Strawberries

I’ve made this card for Steve and Donna; friends of my MIL who have been so wonderful in helping her, my SIL and our family in every way possible since my MIL was diagnosed with terminal cancer.  They have always been very good friends to my MIL, but they just went above and beyond if you know what I mean!  I made this on Wednesday after seeing the FTTC69 (one layer card),and was going to drop it in the mail for them today. Sadly, I am up at 5:30 am, writing this post because we got the phone call in the night that my sweet Mother In Law has passed on. I could not go back to sleep of course, so I am up trying to clear my head (and keep busy at the same time…is that possible?) before my boys wake up.  My husband, Des, has managed to get back to sleep (I hope).  We will have to make plans to go to New Brunswick, but we have no details yet.  When and how …

Easter Celebration

I’ve finally made a card for the Flourishes grand opening celebrations!!  Spring for me, is definitely something to celebrate, as is Easter!   I combined two challenges from Flourishes for this card: FLLCCEL2 (Celebration) and FLLCCEL5 (pink and green). I’ve colored the Flourishes Signs of Spring image with Copics and I’ve paper pieced the eggs in the basket with Basic Grey dp.  The eggs and the frame are cut using my Cricut. Cricut Cartridges: Easter ltd ed. 2010, Accents and elements Copics: R01, R12, R20, R11, E31, G82, G40, YG93 Paper: Basic Grey Sultry dp, Stampin’ Up card stock in green, pink, and white Accessories: dew drops, May Arts lace ribbon Any questions? I’m always happy to answer them! Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Cut it Out!!

Cut it out and pop it up!!  That’s the Crafty Creations Challenge I am setting out for you this week! We are using “Home Sweet Home”, a sweet image from The Digi Kitty on our DT cards this week. Here’s PEGGY’s sweet card: And my own card for the challenge… I stamped the circle/leaves from Unity Stamps as a background for this sweet little saltbox home from The Digi Kitty.  The leaves are popped up, as are the bushes, roof and door of the house, using foam adhesive dots.  The house is colored with Copics.  The sentiment is from Flourishes Cottage Home set. Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you will join us in this week’s CRAFTY CREATIONS CHALLENGE.

An Unconventional Christmas

I’ve made a gatefold card for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge and combined it with the Twisted Sisters challenge on SCS to use unconventional colors for a Christmas card.   Well these colors are definitely not my usual choice for Christmas cards… I stamped the Flourishes wreath in rich cocoa and colored in the berries with Memento potter’s clay marker and copics YG95.  I also added a little shimmer with my Sakura gel pen. The dp is from Crate paper. The card stock is groovy guava and soft sky, and the ribbon is American Crafts. Thanks for stopping by!

Fall with a Flourish!

It’s time again for FLOURISHES  Timeless Tuesday Challenge FTTC34 !!   Today I’ve combined it with the color challenge from Splitcoaststampers.  We were to use Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry, and Black. I recently received the lovely new releases from Flourishes, including this set “Falling Leaves”.  I used a stamp misting technique which gives a nice watercolor effect when you stamp the image.  Unfortunately,  it did not work so well here with the open (line art) stamps.  You can see the effect subtly with the bottom corner leaves stamped directly on the Basic Grey dp. I do love how the colors turned out!  I really didn’t think i would, at first.  But here they are and I thought they worked so well for an Autumn themed card!  It’s not a complicated card by any means, you know me, I like to keep things simple!  I stamped the leaf on my Crushed Curry oval cut out, in Rich Razzleberry, and another that I cut out and popped up on adhesive foam.  I inked the edges of the …

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Guest Designer!

It is time for the  Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC26)!!! Did you know that every  last Tuesday of the month Flourishes has a new guest challenge designer?  I was ABSOLUTELY ECSTATIC when I was asked to be the Flourishes guest challenge designer this month!!!   When Betty got in touch with me I swear i couldn’t stop grinning for the rest of the day!!!  I was just so happy to be asked!!!   Then I got that anxious feeling,  you know…. those awful self doubts one gets… but that passed quickly because I was just too thrilled…after all I love working with Flourishes stamps and am so inspired by them!! So, I chose to challenge everyone to go MONOCHROMATIC with their cards.  Use ONE color, or shades of that color,  along with ONE other neutral white or cream cardstock.   All supplies and tools are allowed!  I would love it if you joined in the FLOURISHES CHALLENGE with us!! I chose to make a long tall card. It is a whopping 8 3/4″ x 4″ .  When I’m making …

Strawberry Fields

Hello!   First off, I will be adding at tutorial for the boxes in my previous post very soon!  Thanks for the lovely comments and for letting me know that you are interested in having a tutorial.  I asked first because writing tutorials is  time consuming and I wanted to make sure there was an interest  before I wrote it. I made today’s card with two challenges in mind…the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (shimmerz or shimmer) and the Stamp Simply challenge on Sharon’ s blog . (Fruit) I am loving my COPICS!!  I colored this with Y00, B21,BG13,R20, R27, R29, E00 I don’t own any green  aside from mint and aqua (blue greens) so I used a yellow base (Y00) and shaded with the blue (B21) then blended with the yellow (Y00) to get my green. I used a touch of the mint green (BG13) and blended it with yellow too.  What do you think?  I am really enjoying how the Copics blend and I feel more like I’m painting than coloring.   I used to …
