Hot Cocoa packet Holder Tutorial

Posted by Deena on November 14, 2009

Hi everyone!  From the results of the poll I took on the hot cocoa holder I posted last week, there are some of you who wanted a “how to”. So today I went ahead and made a tutorial for you.  Thank you for your response to the poll, it really helps me know what my readers want to see!

Cup of happy Finished w 30

Materials

Cardstock- chocolate chip 8 1/2″  x 6 3/4″,  white

Circle punch

Double sided adhesive tape

Ribbon or brad

Scoring tool

Stamp- I used UNITY Hodgepodge of Happiness cup and sentiment

OPTIONAL:

Cuttlebug and embossing folder – I used Snowflakes

Die Cut Nestabilities: Labels One

Scallop oval punch

Step 1:  Cup of happy 1Score the cardstock at 1/2″ and 4 1/2″ vertically.  Score the bottom edge at 1/2″.

Step 2: Cup of happy 2Cut the corner just below where the score lines cross.

Step 3: Cup of happy 3Add adhesive tape to the bottom folding edge just to the score line.

Step 4: Cup of happy 4Flip the cardstock over and still working on the cut corner side add adhesive tape to the long edge and across the bottom but only to the score line.

Step 5: Cup of happy 5Fold up the bottom edge and adhere removing the protective cover of the adhesive tape. Now remove the other strip of protective cover from the bottom right and fold over adhering to the bottom left. Now the left 1/2 inch edge needs to fold in and adhere to the inside of the front flap.

Step 6: Cup of happy 6At the top of your pocket punch a half circle from the center through both the front and back.

Step 7: Cup of happy 7I wanted to add some embossing to this packet and only thought of it after I had assembled the pocket. I wasn’t sure if the embossing would work through the double layer of cardstock, but it did.  It was a little tight running through the cuttlebug, but I only had to give a little added push to the handle to run it through.   I think this will depend on how thick the card stock is, so if you try it this way, be careful and don’t force the handle if it is really resisting. Now the back of the pocket looks pretty too, without any embellishing.

I stamped the cup from Unity in memento tuxedo black and colored it with sharpie markers.  The sentiment is stamped in Memento rich cocoa ink and punched with a scallop oval punch. The image is framed using the Nestabilities labels 1 die cuts.

I also added a brad to the cocoa packet and “hung” it on the front opening.  For the previous cocoa holder I used a ribbon tied through the top of the hot cocoa packet, and the knot “sat” on the edge of the opening as you can see HERE.

Thanks for stopping by,  and as always, if you have any questions or comments I’m happy to read them!

Frosty the… Penguin?

Posted by Deena on November 11, 2009

Snow challenge close up 30

We don’t have snow here yet, in fact today was a mild sunny day!  But I know that it is not far off.  If we are really lucky we may have a month before it hits us.   But why am I talking about snow?  Because SNOW is this week’s Crafty Creations theme!  Fresh Brewed Designs is generously sponsoring us again this week and Heather gave us all images to work with for today’s card.  Isn’t this penguin a cutie?

Snow Challenge #41 w 30

I added some Deco Art snowtex to the rim and ball of his tuque.  The background embossing is Spots and Dots, and the scallop circle is embossed with swiss dots.  The green snowflake dsp is from Stampin’ Up! Merry Moments.

Come play in the  snow with us at Crafty Creations!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a creative day!!

What’s in the Mystery Box?

Posted by Deena on November 9, 2009

Hi everyone!!

I’m SUPER excited because on Friday I received a MYSTERY BOX of products and unusual items and a challenge (should I choose to accept it…) from CUSTOM CROPS!!  This is the 2nd mystery box challenge that they have had and since I’m on the design team, I was asked if I would like to take on the challenge. Well of course!!  I can’t say NO to a good challenge! You can see the last Mystery Challenge projects at Custom Crops; they are wonderful!

Mystery Box 30

WHAT’S IN THE BOX???

There are 7 items and we have to use all 7 in some way in our final projects.  5 of these items are craft type products from CUSTOM CROPS, but two are truly baffling when thinking of using them in a craft project!!  Last time, they mystery challenge takers had to use a can of soda!

I’ll give you a clue for one of the items I will have to use…you can eat it for breakfast!!??

Well you will just have to wait and see what I come up with for this super fun challenge!  My brain has been in overdrive! lol  I will have to upload it by Monday November 16th!! That’s only one week away, so I better get on it.  So are you curious?  I hope you’ll come back next Monday when I will reveal what was in the box and what I made with all of it.   I will do my best to make it FABULOUS!!

I do have a card to share today too…

Under the Mistletoe Christmas w 30I used Webster’s Pages papers (Holiday Collection combo pack) layered on blue bayou card stock.  The base is very vanilla card stock. The bird is a felt sticker decorative element from SEI (Winter Song).  I used a Stampin’ Up!  (Best Yet) sentiment.

I’ve made this card for Stampin’ B challenge: Make a Christmas card

Thanks for stopping by today!!
