Happy Birthday Hearts

I just love this sweet image from Penny Black!  I made this card for my niece who will be turning 9.  O.k. it’s not until May, but I am always late, so this year i vowed not to be!! Now I just have to remember to mail it… This could just as easily be a Valentine too with a change of sentiment. I colored the hedgie with an SU! blender pen and inks, in Chocolate Chip and Creamy Caramel. I also added regal rose, around his belly and face, after brushing the tip over a scrap paper to lighten the color .  The heart balloons are colored with Bravo burgandy, regal rose, and a dusting of  SU! dazzling diamonds glitter. I used a little wild wasabi at his feet, for the patch of grass. The layout is from todays sketch challenge on SCS,  although, I made my focal image a lot bigger and in a heart shape.  I just thought the hearts worked so well with this hedgie with the heart balloons. Blue Winter

Hi all!  It’s been a few days since I last posted, because I’ve had a house full over the weekend.  My Mother in Law, Sister In Law and Niece have been here visiting since Thursday and I have not had a chance to craft of post anything.  It’s been a  busy weekend,  and I’m anxious to get back in my craft room! Oh ya, and So You Think You Can Dance Canada has started and I just had to watch it!  I cannot wait to see the top 20, once they’ve gone through all the auditions!  Anyone else watching?? I made this last week, for an SCS challenge.  I flocked the tree, and made my own dp by using the negative embossing technique, with Palette Hybrid ink, and the Snowflakes embossing folder. Stamps: Penny Black Paper: Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Ink: Palette Hybrid ink water lily Accessories: white flocking, glue, Snowflakes embossing folder, cuttlebug, Techniques: flocking, dry embossing, negative embossing Thanks for stopping in! Have a creative day!!

Take Time to Enjoy your Day!

Take time to enjoy your day, and the limited days of summer that I fear we have left!  The last couple of days have been beautiful, but with just a touch of coolness in the air that feels suspiciously like fall to me! NO! I’m soooo not ready. In fact I’m dreading cool weather and back to school and the particular routine that comes with it!  I know a lot of parents look forward to the back to school season…for reasons I can relate to…BUT I am not.  I’m just not looking forward to the homework (yes at this age and grade I am really the one sitting down to ‘do’ homework)  and getting my  7 year old son to get through it, is no easy task.  At least, it wasn’t last year. Maybe this year will be different.  I don’t remember not wanting to go to school in the early grades.  Not the case here.  My son already, going into grade two, does not really want to go.  I’m hoping he’ll change his mind! …
