The Crafty Creations challenge this week is ANYTHING BUT A CARD: VALENTINES FOR KIDS! Also, at Delightful Challenges the theme is Valentines, Anything but a card too, so I am entering their challenge as well.  Digital Delights is our sponsor! I’ve colored ‘love you Larry’ and ‘love birds’ by Digital Delights for my tags. Crafty Creations Embossing and Glitter

The Holidays are really upon us and I hope you’re done your shopping because it’s time to decorate!  Crafty Creations Challenge  theme is to ‘Deck the Halls’ with embossing and glitter!   You can make any style card you like, it does not have to be Christmas, but be sure to use glitter, and heat or dry emboss something on it!    I am sponsoring this week’s challenge with 3 free digital images to the winner from my own shop… A Creative Need I hope you will join us for the challenge!  NEXT WEEK we are having a 2 week blog hop and lots of prizes and winners!  I embossed the background using WINTER HOUSE cuttlebug folder  and glittered the tree and snowflakes with dazzling diamond dust. The tree is cut using the Cricut Expression Joys of the Season Cartridge (discontinued). Have a creative day!  Deena

Anything but a Square Challenge

CRAFTY CREATIONS CHALLENGE this week is to make a  card or creation that is not a square!  So easy right?  I made this card for an order,  for my niece’s friend who just had her baby a week and a half ago.   I knew I would use it for my DT sample as it fit this challenge perfectly; it’s anything but a square, right!  Wags ‘n Whiskers is our challenge sponsor this week!   I used Cricut Design Studio to weld the carriage shape into a card and I also cut the extra carriage layers and butterfly shapes using the Cricut Expression too.  I used the HERITAGE and STRAIGHT FROM THE NEST cartridges.   If you would like the .cut file I added a link to it below. The colors were inspired by the colors of the nursery and butterfly theme too.  The baby’s name of course, is Alexis! .CUT FILE DOWNLOAD HERE Thanks for stopping by today!  You know I enjoy your company!! Boyz to Men

Wednesday already!  Which means it’s  Crafty Creations challenge time.  This week the theme is “Boyz to Men”, and we’re being sponsored by Lily Of  The Valley Stamps!  Their stamps are really adorable; just wait until you see them all!! I colored this sweet little guy with water color crayons and a paint brush because I wanted to keep it soft.  I find copics too bright, or maybe I’m just too heavy handed or simply don’t have enough pale markers!  Hmmmm?  That would mean more shopping required, so it’s just as well I used water colors! Do you see the background file/ index card?  I cut that with my Cricut using the Graphically Speaking cartridge; I think I may have bought this cartridge specifically for that  image!  I’m so bad. I used a fabulous sketch from Kathy’s Waffle Sketch File: July 2011 Sketch.  However, I had a duh! moment since the title is: JULY SKETCH: OVALLY nice.  Well, as you can see I did not use an oval for my main image panel!  I guess I’m …

A Mini Paris Purse

The Crafty Creations Challenge this week was set by Amy; here is what she has to say: Bonjour!  and thanks for joining us for our latest challenge at Crafty Creations.   The theme this week is anything but a card, with a Paris theme. A few members of the design team are visiting the City of Light which inspired the idea. Our sponsor, Black Leaf Studios is back!  : I knew I wanted to make a purse for this challenge using my Forever Young Cricut Cartridge.  I used the images supplied by Black Leaf Studios (Poodle in Paris set) and made a collage of them in Picasa 3(free editing software), and printed it on white cardstock for the face of the purse.  The whole front is flat piece, but the collage effect makes it look like there are layers!  Isn’t that cool?! I used the image collage as the face of the purse by cutting it out with the Cricut.  <flower 5> Purse feature shift at 5 1/2″, using the center point button to make sure it …

First Birthday

This  CAS card was for my Great Niece for her 1st birthday this past weekend. We drove to Ottawa for a first birthday bash!   She is an adorable little girl, walking around and typically trying to get into everything! Happy Birthday sweet Taylor!   I’m so glad we were able to make it to the Ottawa celebration!!  We had another birthday party barbecue for my Sister in Law’s 50th and my sons birthdays combined, the very next day at my house,  so everyone in Ottawa drove the two hours to Montreal for that too!  We had a good time with our family, ate too much food and enjoyed the sunshine and hot weather that surprised us, since it was forecast to be rainy all weekend! 🙂  I’m so glad the weathermen were wrong!!  The kids had a blast in the pool! Here’s the birthday banner that I made for my Sister in Law’s 50th birthday, using my Cricut and Plantin School book, Straight from the Nest, and Stretch Your Imagination cartridges. My Sister In Law …

Pretty Petals Origami Flower Card

I have made many wonderful new friends through this blog and for that, I will always be grateful!!   Rosana is one such friend, all the way from Sao Paulo Brazil, that I met online when she sent me the most wonderful e-mail, sharing with me that my blog and creations had inspired her! **blush** She also tentatively asked  for some advice about starting her own blog, which she launched soon after.    I was so touched by that e-mail and those kind words from someone I sensed, and now know  to be a truly creative spirtit!  It meant so much to me to know that I had somehow inspired someone so far away from my own home here in Canada, by way of this incredible blogging journey that I began two and a half years ago! You may have been to her blog before and if you have not…well my friends, you are all in for a treat!!  She is sensational!  Her work is original and beautiful and her albums are especially meaningful!  I’m sure …

Fabulous Darling!

I tried something a little different with my cricut for this card.  Of course everyone knows you can cut some fabulous shapes with the Cricut expression, but you can also “draw” those same images too!  All you need is a simple little attachment that replaces the normal blade, and  insert a mini gel pen.  I used a standard Staples mini gel pen in red.  The attachment is available at Custom Crops. I used the Forever Young cartridge for the image. Papers: Cosmo Cricket Material Girl, Kraft card stock Accessories: oval punch Stampin’ Up!  Cricut expression, Forever Young cartridge, embroidery thread, gel pen holder, gel pen Deena

Easter Dreams

I made one more Easter card yesterday, having been inspired by the “oval” (Ways to Use it) challenge on SCS!  We’re off to visit my Mom and  my Grandma tomorrow!   HAPPY EASTER everyone! The eggs are cut with the Easter 2010 cartridge at 1 1/2″ and 1 1/4″.  I punched the leaves using an EK success punch. Webster’s Pages dp, Kraft cs, concord cs used for the the papers.   The bottom panel is embossed with the cuttlebug floral screen embossing folder. Thanks for stopping by! You know I enjoy your company! Happy Easter! Deena

Paris

A friend of mine on Splitcoaststampers is the Featured Stamper this week!  Congratulations Sue!! I made a card inspired by her card you can see on SCS.  Of course in keeping with the challenge I changed a few things, such as leaving off layers, I used no ribbon, and there is no sentiment. I used the cricut to cut the Eiffel tower and set it against a red dp that I stamped with a  Tim Holtz French Marketplace stamp. I added a vertical punched strip using Martha Stewart’s fancy edge punch as well. Maybe someday I will actually see the Eiffel tower in person, but until then, I will keep on dreaming!  Have a wonderful week everyone! Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day! Deena
