St. Patrick’s Day

A quick Saint Patrick’s Day card for the Irish in you! I made this yesterday for the Ways to Use it challenge: rainbows!  The stamps are Studio g sets my friend Pat sent me a year ago, and it also happens to be the only rainbow stamp I own!  I’m glad to have the occasion to use them now;  they’re so fun! The background is stamped with a shamrock in a randomly repeated pattern on green cardstock.  The image is colored with Copic markers. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by! Deena

Come in From the Cold

Crafty Creations Challenges is heating things up this week!  Jaime has set the challenge asking us to turn up the heat with embossing, hot beverages, or hot destinations! I like to warm up with a cup of coffee, my preferred cup of comfort! I stamped and heat embossed the cup directly onto a Basic Grey dp using versamark to stamp it and a versamark pen to fill in the inside cup area,  too.  Once it was completely embossed, I cut it out. The Kraft card stock is embossed with d’vine swirls cuttlebug embossing folder.  The steam swirl and sentiment mat are cut with the Cricut Expression. (Accent Essentials and Home Decor)  The base card is chocolate chip card stock. Stamps: Flourishes Coffee with Friends It has been seriously cold this last few days here in Montreal; a brutal – 25 celcius yesterday!!  Today it seemed almost tolerable at -17 celcius!  I sincerely hope you are experiencing warmer temperatures and I will just keep dreaming about Jamaica where I will be soaking up the sun soon… …

It’s a Bird Thing!

This week’s challenge is for the birds – that’s right!!!   The Crafty Creations challenge is to create a card that has birds on it and  also include polka dots and the colour green. I’m a little late today with my DT challenge card, but here it is! I stamped the birdcage and bird from a STAMPENDOUS set called Birthday Cages.  The bird and cage are colored with copics.  The leaves are punched using an EK success punch and I used the cricut to cut the scallops. (Accent Essentials) The dp is K & Company, and I’ve also used Bazzil cardstock in green and white. Hope you’ll join us for the challenge! Have a great day! Deena

Need a Vacation?

I do!  I will soon be swimming in the Caribbean and sooooo looking forward to it!!  We’re all going to Jamaica! Today’s card reflects how I’m longing to be there already!  My son André  had a research project and oral presentation to do just before Christmas, and he decided to do his on Jamaica so he could learn about where we were going (besides it being a lovely vacation spot).   We were SO proud to find out today that he aced it!!   100%!!  Talk about a confidence booster!  He was just beaming!!  André, you are officially hired to be our guide while we’re there! 🙂 I made this a 5″ x 7″ large card for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday FTTC101!

CAS Silhouette

This took me less than 10 minutes to make! I love quick and easy cards… This sweet silhouette is cut at 2 1/4″ from A CHILD’S YEAR cartridge, with the cricut.  The top portion of the card is embossed with the “With Love” cuttlebug embossing folder.  I used my Scor-Pal to score two lines above and below the embossing. The sentiment  is from Bonnidee stamps “French Wording”, it simply means Happy Birthday.  It’s stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink.  Memento inks rock by the way! Thanks so much for stopping by!!  Keep it simple,  and have a great day! Deena

Believe In Yourself

I love this sentiment from Flourishes! I think it is the simple things that awaken in us a desire to push our limits, expand our potential.  Perhaps because we realize that those “simple things” are in fact so much more; indeed, they awe and inspire us, and we realize that our appreciation of their gifts, must mean that we too, as simple beings, are capable of such gifts.  Believe in yourself !! I’ve made my card today for The Play Date Cafe color challenge.  I stamped the background using Flourishes Cherry Blossoms  by repeating the arrangement of stamps that I placed on an arylic block.  This made it quick to stamp out the entire sheet of Kraft card stock.  I cut it down to 5 1/2″ square for the the 5 3/4″ square card base.  I used some cream colored lace and an old earring back from my stash of vintage jewelery findings for the embellishments. I sponged the layers and distressed the edges as well.  I love these colors so I really enjoyed making …

Sweet Friend

Let me share a few of my favourite things… CAS CARDS– clean and simple designs! RIBBON–  Ribbon can add style to any card! Bows can be formal, prim and proper, whimsical, tied up tight, or free and flowing; there is a ribbon for every design. STAMPS– I enjoy many styles of stamps, but one of my absolute favourites and go to styles is FLOURISHES!  Easy to color and shade because of their tremendous attention to detail and lines…always beautiful and original…I love ’em!! TEXTURED CARDSTOCK– Texture adds richness and depth to your designs, so when I’m making a card with limited elements I like to let the card stock shine! If I want super texture, I emboss! (Swiss dots is still my favourite cuttlebug folder) COPICS–  Once I decided to give these a try, I could not go back to anything else.  Other markers are not the same, if you enjoy coloring…indulge…they’re worth it!! UNEXPECTED and INEXPENSIVE elements- On the card below I added a cut dollar store  paper doily as an accent.  I saved …

New Beginnings

Well I’m back with something new…It’s been a while since I’ve been in my craft room.  The boys are back at school now and things should be more or less normal around here, so I may actually find time for some card making.   I hope.  It’s part of the plan.   But you know what they say about the best laid plans… This is a super cute image from Pink Gem Designs.  Copics were used, scissors cut, foam tape popped it up.  The papers are from the October Afternoon Ducks in A Row 8″ x 8″ pad.  The circle mats were cut at 3.25″ and 2.75″ using the cricut and Accent Essentials cartridge. I’ve also used sketch #200 from Card Positioning Systems. If you would like to show off your own “New Beginnings” themed cards, go to Crafty Creations for lots of inspiration and link up your creations! Have a great day, and have fun!! Deena

Not Even a Mouse

Here’s another card I didn’t have a chance to post sooner.   My sweet friend Peggy gave me this stamp for Christmas and I just love it!!  It reminds me of my favourite Christmas book “Twas the Night Before Christmas” ” …and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse!”  I read it every Christmas Eve to my boys before they are tucked into their beds.  The stamp is an Impression Obsession stamp, colored with copics and I’ve added some “snow” (white flower soft) to the mouse’s cap. Check back tomorrow for the winner of my blog candy for the Crafty Creations blog hop.  There will also be prize winners posted at Crafty Creations, and don’t miss the new challenge on Wednesday! Have a great day everyone!! Deena
