Today’s the Day For a Winner!

Thank you so much to all of you who took the challenge to make a card in support of someone!  I know you all do this without having to be prompted, but it was nice to be able to see all these lovely cards, that I might have missed seeing, if you hadn’t sent me links to them! 🙂 Now for a winner of the creative candy that I promised…. Drumroll please: The winner is PAMMY JO who was a last minute entrant, and subscriber too!  Talk about lucky! 🙂  I used the  http://www.random.org site to pick a winner. Thanks fro playing PAMMY JO! Send me your address info by e-mail, and I will send off your goodies! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend planned!  My boys both start school at the end of this long weekend! 😦   So I’m pretty sure it will be a busy weekend for us, but hopefully a fun one too! Have a creative day!

More is More…bling it!

It’s another week of SBS18 Challenges, and this week’s theme, set by Donna, is Bling it On! I combined this challenge with Splitcoaststamper’s Fan Club theme which was also to bling it, as well as this week’s sketch challenge.   One of the dirty dozen’s challenges is to take any project and make a simple version, (less is more) and an all out version (more is more).  That is what I have done here with my Happy Everything card. The left side white panel is stamped using Spring Solitude by Stampin’ Up!.  I love this set!  The right side panel is Berry Bliss dp.  I added the prima flowers, gem brads, and mini brads to bling it on! The sentiment sets are both from SU, basically the same, in French and English. Stamps: Spring Solitude SU, Happy Everything, Paper: Pink Pirouette SU, Berry Bliss SU, whisper White, Basic Black Ink: Basic Black Accessories: primas, gems, gem brads Techniques: two step stamping Hope you enjoyed the bling today!  Thanks for stopping by, I love hearing from …

Celebrations!

Two cards today for two wonderful occassions…birthdays, and weddings! The top card, is a birthday card for a little girl, and fits in with the challenge theme this week over on Stamp Something. The black and white cherish card is for Susie, who is getting married tomorrow.   She has asked her blog readers to see what we could come up with in black and white.  Susie made her wedding announcements in b&w and they are gorgeous! Congratulations Susie! Have a creative day!  See you tomorrow!

Notepad Covers

I love having notepads around for those moments when inspiration hits!  Covering notepads is easy too and so inexpensive. I buy these little composition notebooks in a pack of 4 for $1. at the dollar store. I measure and cut the cardstock by the length (front, spine, and cover) and the width, adding an 1/8th of an inch. to the length.  Better to have it too long than too short.  I can always trim when it’s adhered to the pad.  In this case, my cs measured  6 7/8″ X 4 1/2″ .  Then I score the two lines for the binding using my Scor Pal, because it gives such crisp lines for folds.  At this point I would emboss my cardstock, as I did on the pink one.  I love these new cuttlebug embossing borders! 🙂  The dinosaur notepad is faux dry embossed. Fun technique! I like to glue them to the pads starting with the back cover.  I use red line tape in the center and I like to use Tombo Mono glue to …

Paper Punch ATC’s

Some of my SBS18 sisters and I had an ATC swap this month and the theme was to “Roll with the Punches”. I made this purse and shoes ATC using a Stampin’ Up! large tag punch, a 1″ and a 1.25″ circle punch, and corner rounder, some flower punches and a mini shoe punch. The background is a colorwash, using glimmer mists by Tattered Angels and shimmering mists by Lumin Arte.  I used glitter as well…’cause a girl’s got to have her glitter! The one on the left is already on its way to Donna, and I’m not sure yet about the second. Thanks so much for stopping in! Tomorrow I’ll share how I made some inexpensive and easy covered notepads.

Tag Time

I was tagged by Donna a few days back, and I’m only now getting around to posting 7 strange facts about myself… let’s see… * If you are tagged, you must firstly post the rules: * Write 7 strange characteristics about yourself. They interest us all! * Tag 6 other people at the end of your Post. * Visit everyone that you have tagged and leave a comment on their blog to let them know that they have been tagged. When I was a kid, my family and I would go camping and traveling in a big blue school bus that had been converted into a trailer equipped with kitchenette, table, bathroom, and 4 bunk beds!  We named her the Cookie Monster because it was blue, and my little sister wanted to!  It was awesome!! I NEVER listen to the weather reports.  If I did, I would immediately prepare myself for the opposite forecast.  I prefer to look out my window. I moved to Montreal on my own at 19, and studied anthropology at McGill …

Beautiful Daze!

It’s a Beautiful Day!  That’s true, but I’m talking about the theme for this week’s SBS18 challenge!   The theme chosen by my sweet SBS18 sister, Jenny, is “Beautiful days”, forgive me for changing it in my title~ heehee- she wanted something hippie, happy, and a little musical! She was going to an outdoor Levellers concert, so I think the theme was definitely influenced by this! 🙂 Go take a look at the other design team samples and play along for a prize! For my dt sample, I pulled out my only hippie like stamp from Sideshow Stamps.com, and inked her up!  Isn’t she fun!?  I colored her with my Letraset Promarkers, and  a blender brush.  Sideshow Stamps has a fabulous variety of retro, cool, and even goulish stamps, that you simply have to check out! I had to do some masking for this, to make it look as though she is sitting in that retro egg chair.  I first masked off part of the chair on the stamp, stamped it, then masking the chair on the …

Rockin’ the Metal!

This little 4.25″ square card was inspired by the  Y.ou K.now Y.ou R.ock! challenge Blog!  The August challenge is to make a card with metal on it.  Lots of metal! You can see Deb and Julie’s samples HERE. Here’s the heavy on the metal 😉 The focal image is stamped in Staz On, and colored in with 8 different colors of sharpie markers on a metal circle plate.  I added silver metal eyelets and a metal butterfly charm too.  The mat behind the Martha Stewart designer paper is a green metallic cardstock from DCWV’s Metallic Mat Stack. I love the contrast of the cold metal against the softness of the image and the light colors of the dp. I chose this image, because I’ve always loved the look of a metal watering can.  You know, the old fashioned ones, especially when they get a bit rusty.  There’s just such an earthy goodness about it! Hope you like how I rocked the metal for this challenge!  If you do, you can vote for it (and me) …

Take Time to Enjoy your Day!

Take time to enjoy your day, and the limited days of summer that I fear we have left!  The last couple of days have been beautiful, but with just a touch of coolness in the air that feels suspiciously like fall to me! NO! I’m soooo not ready. In fact I’m dreading cool weather and back to school and the particular routine that comes with it!  I know a lot of parents look forward to the back to school season…for reasons I can relate to…BUT I am not.  I’m just not looking forward to the homework (yes at this age and grade I am really the one sitting down to ‘do’ homework)  and getting my  7 year old son to get through it, is no easy task.  At least, it wasn’t last year. Maybe this year will be different.  I don’t remember not wanting to go to school in the early grades.  Not the case here.  My son already, going into grade two, does not really want to go.  I’m hoping he’ll change his mind! …
