CAS Black and White

I wanted to write a quick post to say that I decided to play along in the CASology challenge.  I love CAS challenges and this one in particular caught my eye as I enjoy making black and white cards.  I find them so striking, so this was a perfect opportunity! I’ve used my A Creative Need digital image SHALL WE DANCE  and My Memories Software to create the card with digital papers.  I’m also entering my card into Penny’s Challenge to use black or bling. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!  Deena

A Perfect Pair!

What a busy month it’s been!!  I’m sorry I haven’t been a very good blogger lately, but the summer months keep us outdoors and away more often!  My boys are enjoying their summer so far and are looking forward to going to Calypso (a giant waterslide park) soon!  I have been enjoying the sun and getting a little more reading done while outside with my boys.  We have taken a few day trips (the beach, Upper Canada Village, Old Port of Montreal) but have not taken an official “vacation”.  I guess you could say that we have been ‘staycationing’ this year! I will be even busier now, as I was asked by my Mother to make her wedding invitations!  She is getting remarried after 23 years of being a widow.  She is extremely happy and very much in love, and it so good to see her this way after all these lonely years!!  I am so  happy for her and her fiancé, Len!   It will be a smallish family and friends ceremony and dinner, …

Evening Romance

Michelle Pearson’s gallery on SCS is full of unique cards! I chose to case Evening Breezes for the Featured Stamper challenge. I used my “Shall we Dance” silhouette image and a frame from the  Cricut Graphically Speaking cartridge.  I love the elegance of the frame and it’s so unexpected coming from this cartridge! It is a much more versatile cartridge than I was expecting.   I actually used the negative cut from the frame for the whole face of the card, and the remaining piece to mat the image. Be sure to use BLOGFANSRGR8 code if purchasing images from A Creative Need through  to Midnight Oct 31st! One day left!    Also, there is just one day left for a chance to win one of three great prizes from Squigglefly.com in their Mega Giveaway!  Any purchases made through October 31st will be eligible to win! You can see my available images at Squigglefly HERE.  The three winners will be announced on the blog November 1st! Have a great day!  Deena

Shall We Dance?

Hello!!  Have I mentioned…..that my blog readers are the best!! You have all been so great with your kind comments about my images! I want you to know how very much I appreciate it.  It is so encouraging to know that you like them and want to use them on your own projects. My first ever  ‘freebie’ was downloaded almost 400 times!!  Pleasantly surprised is an understatement!  Now I can’t wait to see what you all do with it! Today I made an anniversary card for the COLOR THROWDOWN  challenge.  I thought these colours  would work beautifully with a romantic image, so I used my “Shall We Dance?” silhouette image.   I sketched the image while watching Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers dancing, in some old movie clips.   I was so inspired by their graceful movement and  thought it would translate well as a silhouette. Shall We Dance? image is available at A Creative Need. I’m so glad you had a moment to stop by!! Have a creative day! Deena

Celebrations!

Two cards today for two wonderful occassions…birthdays, and weddings! The top card, is a birthday card for a little girl, and fits in with the challenge theme this week over on Stamp Something. The black and white cherish card is for Susie, who is getting married tomorrow.   She has asked her blog readers to see what we could come up with in black and white.  Susie made her wedding announcements in b&w and they are gorgeous! Congratulations Susie! Have a creative day!  See you tomorrow!

Sledding

It was a sunny mild day, perfect for an outdoor activity…so we took the boys and a friend sledding. I was exhausted though, just from the walk through the park to get to the hill! I was sinking knee deep into the snow! The walk had me wishing that I owned snowshoes! Crazy thoughts! I try NOT to go outside in the winter. In fact I begin to prepare myself for hibernation in October! That said, we did have a lot of fun with the kids, and they’re the only good reason I would go out there in the first place! The reward for this selfless act was some time to myself afterwards to play in my craft room…’cause the kids were tired too and just wanted to watch t.v. Fine with me! Here’s what I did! Click to Enlarge Today’s technique challenge over at Splitcoaststampers is so cool! Faux cloisonne’. Cloisonne’ means partitions. It is a technique involving bronze, copper or gold metal strips to separate and enclose different coloured glass, to create unique …
