Holly Ribbons Christmas Card

I’ve created the sentiment using My Memories Suite Software‘s word art feature.  I replaced the O with my ACN CHRISTMAS WREATH image, and embossed the whole panel with a Cuttlebug Holly Ribbons folder.  I love the festive look the embossing gives this simple card!   What do you think? Come in From the Cold

Crafty Creations Challenges is heating things up this week!  Jaime has set the challenge asking us to turn up the heat with embossing, hot beverages, or hot destinations! I like to warm up with a cup of coffee, my preferred cup of comfort! I stamped and heat embossed the cup directly onto a Basic Grey dp using versamark to stamp it and a versamark pen to fill in the inside cup area,  too.  Once it was completely embossed, I cut it out. The Kraft card stock is embossed with d’vine swirls cuttlebug embossing folder.  The steam swirl and sentiment mat are cut with the Cricut Expression. (Accent Essentials and Home Decor)  The base card is chocolate chip card stock. Stamps: Flourishes Coffee with Friends It has been seriously cold this last few days here in Montreal; a brutal – 25 celcius yesterday!!  Today it seemed almost tolerable at -17 celcius!  I sincerely hope you are experiencing warmer temperatures and I will just keep dreaming about Jamaica where I will be soaking up the sun soon… …

On the Wings of a Butterfly

This week’s Crafty Creations challenge is WHITE PLUS ONE COLOR.   I decided on  blue and white and used a layer of translucent vellum embossed with my cuttlebug.   The edge is punched with a Martha Stewart daisy punch.   The butterflies are cut with my Cricut and the HOME DECOR cartridge.  I cut two layers, one from the dp and another from light cardboard to create the die cut.  I added two tiny blue pearls on each, and popped them up on foam dimensional tape.   I glued the vellum discreetly under the butterflies and at the corner that is tucked into a slit in the base blue layer dp. Papers: Pink Paislee Bayberry Cottage, Vellum Well,  I said I’d be back to talk about camp which was truly exhausting and I must admit, not much of a vacation for us adults!  Our boys enjoyed it and I’m glad they did.  Hopefully they will retain some good memories as I have of my childhood camping experiences.  I have so much more respect for my parents and what …

Summer’s just about here!

My boys have 1 1/2 days left of school!! I’ve definitely got some mixed feelings about this.  On the one hand I am looking forward to the hot summer days and spending time with them in the pool and having time to play with them, carefree with  NO HOMEWORK and NOT having to make any more packed lunches! But on the other hand, I know that it also means hearing “I’m bored” every time they stop moving for half a second, and breaking up squabbles between brothers, and having many neighborhood kids running around my house at all hours of the day!  No more peaceful mornings for me!! Oh well, I am quite certain the happy moments will outweigh the others!  I’m ready! Bring it on!! I’ve made another thank you card for one of their teachers (I need 4 ) and I’ve used the sketch from Monday’s CAS challenge on SCS. Let me know what you think! I stamped, cut out and paper pieced the books using Unity Stamps Hodgepodge of  Happiness. The notepaper …

Best Teacher!

With the end of school in sight and our Crafty Creations challenge being a great color combo this week, this card was born!  I need a few teacher cards for “thank you’s” and this one will be for my son’s kindergarten teacher.  The Crafty Creations challenge theme set by Georgia is to make a card in black and white with a splash of red!  I love this combo, because it can be so elegant, or it can be striking and theatrical, or simply bold and fun!  The DT did a great job of showing all these styles I think, so pop on over for some inspiration! I used my Cricut to cut the boy/chalkboard silhouette and the book icon from “A Child’s Year”.  I get so much use out of the cartridge!!  So, I am also entering this into Speedy’s Friends challenge to make a silhouette card. The chalkboard words are from  a set called Homeroom by the Paper Company Studio, and Imaginisce snag ’em stamps.   The background stamp and the “thank you” behind the …

Cuttlebug Fabric Flower Tutorial

I made a sympathy card for a friend whose father passed away this week, and took inspiration from a few challenges.  One was the black magic technique on SCS,  and another was the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge to make our own flowers. I am not one to use flowers on my cards very often.  The reason for this is that I don’t like a lot of bulk on my cards, and I always find flowers to be so thick.  I mail a lot of my cards and in Canada the postage is not only expensive, it is also very finicky about shape and size etc.  So, I just try to steer clear of bulk.  However, yesterday I decided to try making a  flat fabric flower to see how it would look. 🙂  I’ve tried fabric flowers before, but cutting them was always a challenge.  I think the trick is to use a very light weight but still sturdy material.  I am going to play some more with different materials. I used very sheer polyester fabric …

Birthday Cards!

Hi! It’s another beautiful hot day here in Montreal! I had a wonderful long weekend with the boys, swimming in our new pool, and have been spending most of my time outdoors! You know what that means…not a whole lot of stamping going on! I do have to get more birthday cards done and I have 70 wedding invitations to make for my niece, so I really should get inside my craft room…but it’s soooo hard when I’m enjoying the first sunny hot days of the season! I wish I had a craft area outdoors! lol These are some french birthday cards that I made last week.  They are clean and simple but I tried to use some eye catching colors for some pop! Have a wonderful, creative day!!!! Deena

Spring Showers

Hi all, I will be away for a bit over the Easter weekend.  Unfortunately it’s not for happy reasons.  We will be attending my Aunt’s funeral on Monday April 5th, as she passed away on Tuesday.  Our family was very close with theirs (my Mom’s sister) as we were growing up, and she will be dearly missed. This has all happened so very quickly. I am so glad that I made a trip just a little over a week ago to see her and her family.   We had no idea that she would be taken from us so soon, even though we knew she had terminal liver and lung cancer. It had only just been diagnosed over the last few weeks.  Our consolation is that she has not had to suffer for long.   I will always remember her as a wonderful person; always finding the best in others and always giving wholly of herself.  She was truly a beautiful person and a very special Aunt to me. Earlier in the week I made a card …

Sweet Happy Birthday!

I have a couple of cards for a couple of challenges to show you all today.  I was feeling uninspired on my own last night, and needed a push in the right direction!  So, of course I turned to the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge and found myself using  a lovely sketch by Silke.  Second, I used the colors of the color challenge on SCS to use pretty in pink, rich Razzleberry and Chocolate chip.   Such a yummy color combo don’t you think? I used the Flourishes Birthday Celebrations stamp and the Strawberries stamp for the sentiment.  I stamped the cupcake 3 times to build my little tower of cakes.  They’re colored in with Copics.  Instead of a panel in the background I used a piece of crocheted ribbon in a pretty pink. The Crafty Creations challenge this week is to use at least 3 different TEXTURES!  I made my DT card below using embossing,  textured paper and cotton ribbon as my three different textures.   The card above also has textured card stock, crochet ribbon and …

Sweet Baby Bear

Here’s a baby card I designed for Custom Crops. I wanted it to look like a baby’s bed with baby bear and his teddy all tucked in for the night. I love white bedding even though I know it’s not practical…a girl can dream! If you would like the full details for this card you can find it all HERE. Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a creative day!
