Floral Mini Notes 3 x 3

We’ve had so much rain since Friday evening; it just won’t stop!! It’s starting to feel a bit gloomy and I really needed a little pick me up and I’m betting some of you do to! Flowers help cheer me, and with my allergies lately, pretty flowers on paper are probably even better than the real thing! *smiles* I love the look of wildflowers so that’s what I had in mind as I made these. I hope you all have sunshine and flowers in the days ahead!! Have a wonderful, creative day and thank you for your sweet comments!! You make blogging so much fun!! Deena

Boys will be Boys!

We went to my hometown to visit my Mom and Grandmother for Easter, and we had a really nice time!   On Easter day we took a walk through the riverside park where they have built a large skate park. It was packed with boys skateboarding from the age of 6 to 46! My boys were super excited about it and immediately demanded that they get skateboards for their birthdays in June! However, I was shocked to see that only about 10% of them were wearing helmets! They were jumping rails (down sets of stairs) and flipping their boards all without helmets. It really worried me.  Am I overprotective?  My boys wear helmets to ride their bikes which seems a lot less dangerous than what those boys were doing! Nevertheless, I was inspired to make this card for the WT challenge on SCS today :”Boy oh boy!”, because my boys will like it! “Look Mom! NO hands and NO HELMETS!” uugh! NO WAY! Stamps: Extreme Skateboard Stampin’ Up!, Cornish Heritage Farms boys, sanded background SU! …

Clean and Simple Halloween

I made a CAS Halloween card today inspired by a card from Alimarbles gallery on SCS (Ali Manning).  She is the Featured Stamper today and has such a wonderful style! I kept her clean and simple design, but made a Halloween card instead of a Valentine.  The ribbon loop can hold a tootsie roll or rocket candy roll as a quick Halloween treat for a teacher or classmate. Thanks for stopping by!! Deena

Nice Ride

My husband recently bought himself  a 2005  papaya orange  Audi  TT coupe quatro.  He’d been longing for a sports car for a while and  after struggling for some time with his practical self, gave in to the pleasure of owning a second car built for speed and performance, instead of child car seat capacity and luggage space.  Although he did ask my opinion, I have never been interested in cars, nor do I know a thing about them, but I knew it meant a lot to him, so I left it to him to decide what to do.  He originally wanted it in yellow, but found this great papaya orange instead!  At first I really didn’t like the idea of the yellow or any other bright color, but now I have to admit that I think the orange is a really cool look for this car! This week’s Crafty Creations Challenge was set by Claire (hopejacare) to the theme of  TRANSPORTATION.  So, I thought I’d make a card to congratulate Des on the purchase of …

Frosted Window Technique

I hope all you Mom’s out there are having a great day!! My boys brought me breakfast in bed!  Their Daddy had made fresh strawberry pancakes, coffee and orange juice  and they brought it to me with big grins after letting me sleep in until 10am!  I got some sweet cards and kisses too! I am getting some “quiet time” to myself now and thought I’d post the card I made last night… I was inspired to make this after visiting Allee’s gallery.  She is the reigning queen for the Queen for the Day game on SCS.  If you would like to join in on the fun and games and honor Lynn as QFTD08 the SCS forum link is HERE. I used this “frosted window” technique that I first heard of at Toy’s Haven.  Holly came up with this technique and made a gorgeous floral card for the technique challenge she made it for,  so be sure to have a look! Here’s what I did (slightly different from Holly’s, because I used two different stamps …
