Published in Cricut Magazine May 2012! Yippee!!

If you happened to pick up a copy of the Cricut Card Magazine (May 2012) you might have seen my “thanks a bunch” card !   I was so pleased to have it published in this issue!   I feel like celebrating, so I thought I’d offer you all an image that I made the other day.  It’s an ocean landscape scene, from a photograph I took in Jamaica, it’s a simple rendition, but I hope you like it! Click  HERE FOR FREE DOWNLOADABLE .jpg OR HERE FOR the .png (no background) image I’d love to see what you do with the image if you download it!  Just leave me a link in a comment if you’d like to share it with me.  The usual rule apply, feel free to use the image for personal use and small craft  for hire, but please don’t redistribute the image, just send your friends here to downlaod it for themselves, and if you could link the image back to A Creative Need it would be much appreciated.   …

Embellishing Challenge

If you know me me at all, you know that I do not use a lot of embellishing on my projects.  I like to keep things simple! But that is not to say that I don’t appreciate seeing all the gorgeous projects created with clusters of perfect embellies!! I really do admire you crafters that can transform your projects in such a way that the embellies don’t overwhelm the rest of the creation.  I  can’t seem to do that, so I keep it simple.   So even today’s card for our Crafty Creations Challenge is simply adorned.  But it does have the required embellishments.  I used three gems and a lovely silk ribbon bow as my embellishments, and used a punched circle tag for the sentiment. MY HEART PIECES is the sponsor this week and I’ve use one of Priyanka’s lovely images.  (Birthday Girl) The papers are lilybeedesign (This & That). Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful, creative day!  Deena

Thank you to the Teachers

As the school year is coming to an end, I have been making a few thank you cards for the teachers.  My boys had a good year, just how good is yet to be determined with Friday’s report cards! I used MMS ($10. oo Off MMS if you use my coupon code: STMMMS31200) to design the dp, adding the smiley face and a+, pencil and paper clips, but you get the idea, this can be done with stamps too of course!  The mat is Kraft cardstock on a deep red cardstock base.  I added the red paper clip at top right.  Inside is stamped with a thank you! Have a great day everyone! It was a really hot one here today and I was so happy we have AC and a pool!!  Deena

A Charming Idea!

This week’s Crafty Creations challenge is to use a CHARM on your projects.  I’ve glued a little dragonfly charm to mine.  I’m hosting and sponsoring this challenge so read on below to see how you can increase your chances of winning some extra images!  I’ve used my Hanging On panda image for my card sample today and used MMS to create the layout of the card, and to add the digital flowers too.  I tied a big  bow, glued on the dragonfly charm, and colored the image with copics. This week I am sponsoring our CRAFTY CREATIONS challenge with 3 digi IMAGES of the winner’s choice from  A CREATIVE NEED. (5 images if you’ve used one of mine on your winning creation) 30% OFF ALL IMAGES THIS WEEK!! Use code NEWDISCOUNT at checkout. Shabby Chic and simply sweet

Hello!  I wanted to share with you this sweet shabby chic card I made for a birthday (french sentiment). I punched the top border with an SU! punch, wrapped a panel of gorgeous dp with some green hemp twine and tied a button and a hand punched tag to it.  The base card is kraft cardstock(Bazzill). The stamp sentiment is from Bonnidée. Have a creative day everyone!!  Deena

Inspired Artisans: Debi (The Purple Table)

Happy Friday everyone!   I want to introduce and welcome Debi to our Inspired Artisans Friday Feature!  Tell us a little about yourself…   I live with my three pug dogs in northern VA, right outside of the DC Metro area.  I’ve always been interested in Art and anything that would allow creative expression .  I’m usually the one that volunteers “I can make that for you”.  My interests are varied and include interior design, photography, painting, and papercrafts. Last year my son who lives in Boston got engaged.  He and his fiance wanted to create some tile “save the dates” they had seen online and they wanted me to help make them.  While searching for supplies in the local craft store I re-discovered rubber stamps and my life hasn’t been the same since.  After that project, I made a guest book for their wedding, then some tags, then domino art, then one card, then another, and another…..you get the idea. My rubber stamp collection/addiction has since grown to an enormeous size, so I opened my Etsy …

Free Birthday Crown Template and Tutorial

Here’s a fun template that is perfect for birthday parties! I used it last night to create a personalized crown for my son who is turning 8 on saturday! CLICK HERE FOR FREE DOWNLOAD OR HERE FOR THE PRINCESS VERSION Using MyMemories Software to Customize your Crown (as I have done with my son’s crown at bottom of page by adding monogram letters to form his name) Download template file and install it into your software Using MyMemories Suite, choose Create Album From Designer Template and find your project Now you can add pictures, print and enjoy the provided template, or customize it with your own papers and embellishments. Instead of adding the paper as a background paper, you can add it as an embellishment so that you can move the paper around.  This is especially useful when using papers with stripes or circles, so you can decide which part of the paper you want to use. Once it is added as an embellishment, you can now select the paper and move it into the …

CAS Floral Birthday

I just came back from a fun dinner with friends.  We had tacos and wine for dinner, and sat outside around a fire toasting marshmallows for our kids.  Good times!  I brought over a few crafting goodies for their 11 year old daughter as she expressed some interest in my cards and cardmaking, so I’m hoping she’ll have fun with it. I thought I’d share this really easy CAS card with you – great for a birthday or change up the sentiment for just about any occasion!  I used flowers from the Daydreamer digital kit by DigiScrapDelights, and designed the layout using My Memories Suite Software.  You could use any floral stamps to do this but I love being on my laptop anywhere, anytime just designing what I want and then printing it when I’m ready.  I just stamped the sentiment after I printed it, and added some gems to finish it off.   Just what I needed!  Use this code for $10. off: STMMMS31200 MMS is so much easier to use than photoshop or corel and …
