First Crush Valentine

Have I mentioned yet that I love my new Cricut??  Well I do!!  I think I could play with “A Child’s Year” cartridge for a year and not get tired of it.  It is an amazing shapes cartridge that has so many creative features, including a full set of shadow images, icons, tags, cards,a font and Monograms!  I was literally oohing and ahhing over this cartridge when I received it!! There are so many creative possibilities with this cartridge.  If you own a Cricut and were hesitating over this cartridge, I strongly suggest you go for it! Here’s a simple Valentine I made with it today for the Polkadoodle challenge and the Twisted Sisters Challenge on SCS. We were to make non traditional colored Valentines, so NO red and NO pink!  Also for One stop Craft Challenge: Love and Kisses, and Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge: Hearts! Cocoa and Chocolate colored card stocks are from Bazzil, and the ribbon is American Crafts. The heart is layered with Nook & Pantry Basic Grey designer paper. Thanks …

CAS Love

A clean and simple card for the CAS challenge on SCS.  We simply had to use designer paper.  I used this pretty new S.E.I dp that has a beautiful shimmer to it.  The love sentiment is cut with the Cricut from the Home Decor cartridge. Don’t forget tomorrow is our Crafty Creations Challenge BLOG HOP!!  I hope you’ll all stop by and say hello!  The hop starts at Crafty Creations challenge blog and I’ll be a hop along the way!

My 4 Ever Friend

My friend Peggy came over on Friday morning so we could take a visit to my local scrapbook store that was having a sale.  🙂 She  brought over some healthy homemade chili that we enjoyed for lunch.   YUMMY!  If you would like the recipe, you’ll find it at  SOS Cuisine.   I think the only change she made was to use mixed beans instead of just red beans.  If you like your chili **spicy** I would suggest increasing the minced chili peppers or using 2-3 tbsp of chili powder per lb of beef.  The beef is extra lean to keep it healthy, and don’t forget to drain the beef after browning it; that helps too! I think chili gets a bad rep for being a fatty dish, but if you take into account the health benefits you get from the beans and vegetables and keep to the extra lean beef or ground turkey, then it really isn’t bad at all!  At 380 cal per serving and a whopping 10grams of fibre,  not to mention how yummy …

Blowing Kisses

Hi Everyone!   It’s time for another Crafty Creations Challenge card!   The adorable bear blowing kisses is an image from our sponsor this week, Sweet ‘n Sasssy Stamps.  Korin is so sweet she sent over a few different digi images for the DT to play with.  The rest of the design team has made some fabulous Valentine creations with them!  Have a peek  at their work at CRAFTY CREATIONS.  The theme is  VALENTINES/LOVE so pop on over and play! I used some delicious Bittersweet Basic Grey Paper on a Chocolate chip  card stock base.  Funny…I have a craving for chocolate now!   The big heart was cut at 4 1/2″ with the Cricut machine, and the little hearts are punched. Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a creative day!!

My Nest is Best

Home sweet home… A clean and simple card using some new Unity SPRING stamps.  My little boy has a book that he really likes called “My Nest is Best” and this sentiment and image makes me think of it.  The CAS challenge at SCS today is to use teal, white and only one other color, and of course to keep it clean and simple. I”m so glad you stopped by today! I want to remind you of the Crafty Creations Blog Hop we will be having  January 27th…that’s a week from Wednesday! It’s Crafty Creations Challenges 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!  There will be lots of sponsored giveaways and lots of chances for everyone!  WE HOPE YOU’LL JOIN US!!

My Little Man

Today’s Inspiration challenge on SCS comes from Nell Hill’s online store.  I loved the children’s sihouette frames and it inspired this card and mini magnet. A simple black and white frame using my Cricut to cut the scallop squares.  I added a panel of embossed mosaic squares for some texture.  The sentiment is from Stampin’ Up! (Warm Words) Thanks for stopping by  and have a creative day!!

Owl be thinking of You

Phew!! It’s friday.  It was a tough week.  My MIL started chemo and it really got me down thinking about it.  We are so far away (11 hours) and we know it’s going to get tough as she gets weaker.  My husband will probably have to fly down there soon, and since the kids are in school I’ll have to stay.  I want to be there too, but it’s not very practical, especially when we are not sure how often we may be needed to go.   We plan on going as a family for the March break.  She will be in her 3rd round of chemo by then.  I worry about everything.   How she is doing, how my boys will take it (it’s terminal cancer), how my husband is holding up, how the rest of his family is dealing with it all, and of course how I feel about it too, as I love her, and hate that this is happening. Uugh!     Then there was the earthquake in Haiti; how horrifying!    My own problems, …

Sweet Happy Birthday!

I have a couple of cards for a couple of challenges to show you all today.  I was feeling uninspired on my own last night, and needed a push in the right direction!  So, of course I turned to the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge and found myself using  a lovely sketch by Silke.  Second, I used the colors of the color challenge on SCS to use pretty in pink, rich Razzleberry and Chocolate chip.   Such a yummy color combo don’t you think? I used the Flourishes Birthday Celebrations stamp and the Strawberries stamp for the sentiment.  I stamped the cupcake 3 times to build my little tower of cakes.  They’re colored in with Copics.  Instead of a panel in the background I used a piece of crocheted ribbon in a pretty pink. The Crafty Creations challenge this week is to use at least 3 different TEXTURES!  I made my DT card below using embossing,  textured paper and cotton ribbon as my three different textures.   The card above also has textured card stock, crochet ribbon and …

All My Love

It’s all about the love… I’ve made today’s card for the Flourishes new release “season of love” challenge.   It may sound corny, but I always feel like I’m coming home when I use Flourishes’ stamps!  I really love them, and feel so comfortable using them.  I’m sure we all have stamps like like that.  This is one of my favorites, so it was perfect for this card! I stamped the image first and colored it with Copics: R20, R29, V01, YG93, YG99 I was inspired by a mosaic tutorial by Beate, and it brought to mind my little used stained glass backgrounder.  So I thought I’d show it some love, and inked it up with versamark ink. I stamped it directly over the image and heat embossed in clear embossing powder.  Using my Tim Holtz ink applicator I sponged over the entire area with pink pirouette ink, and then buffed it with a paper towel. I cut the image out with my Spellbinders Nesties Labels One dies and popped it up on foam adhesive tape.  …
